Vice President, Fund Development

Position Summary:
Reporting to the President & CEO, this position will provide leadership for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the agency’s diverse fund development and marketing/communication strategies aimed at meeting the revenue goals of the agency.

The Vice President, Fund Development will develop strategies to secure corporate, foundations, individual support (especially High Net Worth donors), and other sources of revenue including overseeing fundraising events and grants. This position is dedicated to improving the agency’s market‐share and all processes related to increasing funding.

Accountabilities:
● Works closely with the President and CEO and all members of the Stewardship Team to develop a strategic revenue generation plan and fund development plan driven by the strategic plan with tangible targets in achieving financial goals.
● Builds a robust pipeline of donor prospects
● Assess market opportunities, identify target markets, ongoing intelligence gathering associated with current and potential donors (individual, corporate, foundations)
● Put systems in place to cultivate new donors and steward existing donors especially in establishing multi-year funding opportunities.
● Establish a marketing and communications plan focused on attracting donors and volunteers.
● Develop strategy focused on sustainable multi‐year fundraising initiatives
● In Partnership with President & CEO engages Board and other volunteers in fundraising activities
● Supporting in the stewardship of donors particularly major donors
● Oversee and provide leadership to event
● Provide support for third party fundraisers
● Manage the relationship with external event production companies
● Participates in the development of an annual marketing and communications plan to attract donors and volunteers.
● Participates in financial reporting and financial forecasting
● Communicate, effectively, BBBST’s social impact and outcomes to strengthen sustainable funding.
● In collaboration with the Vice President, Operations ensure that the donor management system, Raisers Edge, is being used effectively to track all prospect and donor activity.
● Lead donor recognition and stewardship activities
● Liaises with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada marketing/communications team as required.
● Leadership and management of staff including mentorship and annual performance appraisal

Job Qualifications & Skills:
• 7‐10 years of experience in fund development with a strong track record of significant success in attracting major gifts at levels of up to $100,000.  Direct experience in the identification and cultivation of new relationships and stewarding of existing donors.
• A strategic thinker coupled with front‐line fundraising experience generating multiple streams of revenue and strong management and communications experience.
• Demonstrated experience, and success, in Government and Foundations grant writing.
• University or college equivalent in fundraising education or a minimum 10 years fundraising experience
• Knowledge and practical usage of Raiser’s Edge a strong asset
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work outside customary business hours during periods leading up to and during major events – includes some weekends and evenings
• Strong knowledge and practical usage of Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Successful vulnerable sector police clearance
