Job Summary 

The Senior Officer, Donor Engagement is a key member of the Relationship and Fund Development department team, securing major and planned gifts to support student awards, education programs, capital projects, research initiatives and other funding priorities that advance the work of the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV).

The incumbent leads fundraising on behalf of UFV faculties and/or programs as assigned, working closely with deans, senior leaders, faculty, staff and volunteers across the organization. The Senior Officer plays a key role in achieving fundraising and engagement goals in UFV’s Integrated Strategic Plan.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business administration or a related field, or a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution combined with relevant work experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years of successful fundraising experience, with at least three (3) years in major gifts fundraising with preferred experience in a post-secondary environment or similar fundraising organization.

  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation an asset.

  • Experience working within a centralized fundraising system an asset.

  • Demonstrated success working with high-net-worth donors to solicit and secure five- and six-figure gifts.

  • Demonstrated experience securing corporate donations and sponsorship, delivering recognition, benefits, and activations.

  • Demonstrated experience working with institution’s senior leadership team, deans, faculty, or equivalent, as well as board members and other volunteers to identify prospects and solicit gifts.

  • Advanced experience tracking moves management in a CRM, preferably Raiser’s Edge/NXT.

  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office required.

  • Exceptional customer service and people skills, comfortable networking and representing UFV at functions and events.

  • Creative and entrepreneurial outlook with a strong intellectual curiosity.

  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm.

  • Experience working with and representing the interests of diverse populations.

  • High standards of professional etiquette, ethics, integrity, and judgement.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to address complex / confidential / sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail, spelling, and grammar.

  • Ability to work independently with excellent project management and planning skills to achieve goals and deadlines.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in the face of changing operational priorities.

  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, and as a team player.

  • Knowledge of and experience in a post-secondary environment preferred.

  • Knowledge of and experience working in the Fraser Valley an asset.
