This position will focus on two key areas:
Partnerships and Research Impact: The role involves organising and delivering activities for action research projects such as SPINE, AMIGOS, and InclusiveSpaces, including field work and facilitation of learning-by-doing communities and participatory workshops. It involves active participation in networks such as Women in Transportation for change, the Women and Gender Constituency for Climate Change and the Environmental NGOs Network. Key tasks include analysing data, coordinating research meetings and planning and implementing side events at climate change conferences, contributing to the drafting of advocacy documents on gender, just transition and climate justice, and contributing to the annual planning and drafting of grant applications for European projects. In addition, the role requires identifying new funding opportunities, including public and private grants, contracts and tenders, and attending relevant meetings related to research and innovation activities. Working with the team to achieve work line objectives and a willingness to travel across Europe 4-6 times per year are essential aspects of this dynamic and high impact role.
Project coordination and accountability: The role also involves closely monitoring ongoing projects in collaboration with the team, ensuring adherence to established timelines, indicators and verification sources. This includes organising information for technical reporting on projects under direct responsibility and supporting transparency and accountability processes alongside the Research Director.
Key responsibilities: Overall project management and climate advocacy
- The main responsibility is to manage the full lifecycle of public and private funding initiatives, with a particular focus on European and international projects. This includes the preparation, submission, monitoring, and evaluation of technical and financial reports for project justification. It also requires understanding of project methodology and in-depth knowledge of mobility and transport issues. A proven ability to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data and to write, present, monitor, manage and justify projects is essential. In addition, training or experience in climate change with a gender perspective and a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) approach, as well as expertise in climate change negotiations in the context of international relations, are critical to the role.
What we're looking for
University degree, preferably at Masters level.
- Proven professional experience of at least 7 years in the formulation, management, implementation, monitoring and/or evaluation of research projects in the field of transport with public, European and/or international funding.
- Strong teamwork skills combined with a high degree of autonomy (good planning and organisational skills).
- Results-oriented, accustomed to working to deadlines and tight schedules, and able to cope with peak workloads.
- Creative problem solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of English, ideally at C2 level.
- Familiarity with the collaborative working environment.
- Knowledge and experience of preparing European project proposals.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences, including non-technical partners.
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel and the econometric programme "r".
Nice to have
- PhD in sustainable mobility, engineering, urban planning or a related field.
- Strong experience with R, Python.
- Ability to coordinate and liaise with funding agencies, other organisations and partners.
- Adaptability to personal assistant tasks.

Reports to: the Director of research of cambiaMO

Location: This is a hybrid role, but candidates must be legally authorised and based in Madrid, Spain.
OFFER
- This is a permanent contract, full-time role with a 6-month probationary period.
- Integration into a multidisciplinary team within the organisation.
- Salary between 35,000€ and 45,000€ gross/year. cambiaMO offers an employment contract under Spanish law, including pension/retirement, health and other benefits, valid in all EU social security systems.
