We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organizational skills, a passion for networking and engagement, and experience in planning and enhancing alumni engagement.
The Director of Alumni Relations will develop and implement initiatives, programs, and events for alumni and other constituents that align with the alumni association and advance the mission, vision, values, and goals of IU Northwest. The individual will build financial and volunteer support, direct volunteers and committees, cultivate current and prospective volunteers and potential donors, oversee events and ceremonies, and lead alumni communication and marketing efforts in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Department.
Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Develops and implement strategies for engaging and cultivating alumni relationships and philanthropic initiatives
- Manages and administrates the alumni annual fund, including setting goals, creating budgets, and reporting on progress.
- Deepen alumni loyalty build the alumni community, we will learn how alumni identify with IU Northwest and each other, and then offer relevant experiences that encourage stronger commitment.
- Champion major AR initiatives. Lead complex, high-visibility process redesign and innovation projects. Develop and implement initiatives as needed.
- Coordinates and trains volunteers who work on events, projects, and programs.
- Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promote existing and new programs and/or policies.
- Serves on committees relating to alumni relations and serves as a liaison between IU Northwest and the community.
General Responsibilities
- Leads the planning, development, and implementation of alumni programs and major ceremonies and events that complement and advance the goals of university alumni and development offices, academic units, and student life.
- Identifies and cultivates relationships with both alumni and students to promote engagement as volunteers on committees, with programs, and as members of the alumni association.
- Develops and manages a portfolio of alumni, volunteers, donors, and prospects. Collaborates with other units on fundraising efforts and events.
- Collaborates with internal department partners and volunteer leaders to develop plans and implement programs (professional and career development, celebrations, fundraising, etc.) that connect students and alumni and increase engagement and participation with the local service community and the worldwide alumni community and supporters.
- Establishes and coordinates opportunities that retain students and alumni in a lifelong relationship connected to the university.
- Leads the collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Department concerning the design and production of alumni-related marketing and communication, including online, social media, and web content.
- Manages unit operations and budgets; may manage a team of staff.

- Bachelor's degree In related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

- 5 years In alumni relations, development, event planning, public affairs, marketing, and/or volunteer management

- Ability to juggle a vast quantity of incoming information, interruptions, and inquiries with a high level of professionalism and tolerance for ambiguity.
- Expert analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong project and program management skills with demonstrated effectiveness in data analysis, critical thinking, creative problem solving, consulting, facilitation, negotiating, influencing, people leadership, and strategic decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include Teams, LinkedIn, and the ability to become familiar with new system and programs
Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
