Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Leadership & Major Gifts, the Director of Planned Giving (DPG) is a key member of The College of New Jersey Division of College Advancement. The DPG is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing programs and strategies to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni and friends. This role focuses on engaging individuals who demonstrate both the capacity and inclination to make significant gifts in support of the College's mission. The DPG oversees the Heritage Society, which recognizes individuals who have made planned gifts in support of the college, and manages the pipeline of planned giving prospects. This position also oversees relationships with planned giving vendors, including PG Calc and Stelter.
Main Responsibilities:
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit major and planned gifts at leadership giving levels.
- Document all activity, including detailed action and meeting notes, in the institutional advancement database (Raiser's Edge NXT).
- Assist in developing research and cultivation strategies for prospects.
- Customize donor recognition initiatives, including promotion, acknowledgment, and stewardship of TCNJ's Heritage Society.
- Develop, maintain, and market a comprehensive planned giving program that educates alumni, friends, and their advisors about both deferred and outright gifts using various media, including quarterly mailings, the development of website, and marketing materials.
- Interact with representatives from financial institutions to ensure timely and accurate processing and transfer of gift assets.
- Work closely with internal constituents in Advancement Services and Communications, Marketing, and Brand Management to enhance planned giving program.
- Assist with affinity-based giving/engagement opportunities including reunion and Homecoming.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated successful experience in planned giving, major gifts, and planned giving marketing.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Ability to drive a car and use other transportation such as airplanes or trains. Ability to travel to locations not accessible by mass transit.
- Ability to provide campus tours, assist with other divisional activities such as Homecoming, Reunion weekend, and alumni activities.
- Ability to work on databases and planned giving platforms.
