Job SummaryThe Director initiates, cultivates, and maintains foundation relationships to leverage support for college initiatives. Researches, identifies, and manages private grant prospects for projects aligned with fundraising priorities. Collaborates with senior leadership, faculty, and other administrators to identify and prepare grant projects and budgets. Coordinates required stewardship reporting to fulfill post-award expectations. Facilitates meetings and site visits between program officers at foundations, college faculty, and the Office of Advancement.
Responsibilities- Plans and implements solicitation strategies for foundation prospects including writing and submitting grant proposals, development of grant budgets, and maintaining relationships with foundation officers.
Identify, cultivate and solicit major gift opportunities and work across the institution to partner with constituency-based advancement officers, deans, department chairs, faculty, and staff to maximize gift and grant support.
- Manages stewardship activities for foundation donors including report writing, collaborating with other departments to monitor the progress of projects and gather information for reporting, tracking grant expenses and preparing financial reports, and advising on major grant projects. Serve as an advisor on program teams for major grant projects.
- Manage a portfolio of foundation donors capable of investments at the major gift level.
- Collaborates with other Advancement staff on foundation activities that intersect with individual prospect work, including proposal writing and budgeting.
- Liaises with other departments to administer the grant's solicitation clearances/approvals, training sessions and meetings with principal investigator(s) to ensure the financial requirements and timelines are met.
Manage information on and activities with key constituents and provide regular reporting on progress through Raiser's Edge.
- Represent GGC and its Advancement division at local and regional community meetings, events, etc. as assigned. Work on assigned special college-wide projects and provide support at college events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
- 3-5 years demonstrated successful experience in a combination of any of the following: grant writing, advancement/fundraising, communications, management, community relations, external affairs, or related field
- Requires a valid Driver's license
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree
- Experience in a higher education setting, preferably in Advancement
- Experience with donor software, specifically Raiser's Edge, Foundation Search/Candid, and grants resources
- Proven ability to drive change and achieve results in an academic setting
- CFRE and Grant Writing Certificate preferred
- Experience in project management including developing strategic communications and persuasive writing
- Strong writing and program management experience
- Experience in engaging and supervising vendors and volunteers
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Strong computer skills and software knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to develop relationships across all constituent groups including college colleagues, donors, foundation officers, faculty and staff
- Highly self-motivated
- Capacity to inspire staff, volunteers and donors to action
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
- Able to work well as part of a team to achieve team goals and organization initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining careful attention to detail
- Ability to work with various populations
