Position Summary
- The Assistant Director of Annual Giving works in partnership with the Offices of Annual Giving, the National Alumni Association, Admissions and Recruitment, and other key internal stakeholders. Together they'll create joint programming opportunities to engage alumni and increase their investment of time, talent, and tender with the College.
- The Assistant Director of Annual Giving serves as the primary point of contact/resource to internal and external key stakeholders related to alumni engagement.
- This position assists in delivering and executing programs and events, including Alumni networking receptions, First-Year and Reunion programs, Pre-Alumni student programming, and other alumni events as managed by the Office of External Relations and Alumni Engagement.
- The Assistant Director will disseminate, track, and maintain all communication and post-event survey data, prepare reports and materials, draft correspondence for internal partners, and across the network.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years or experience of alumni relations experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated appreciations and knowledge of the history and missions of Morehouse College
- Financial supporter of candidate's alma mater
- Knowledge of marketing and alumni relations best practices, including digital marketing, email, and social media
- Must be proficient in the use of new and emerging technology for digital platforms
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact diplomatically with diverse personalities and to exercise judgment and tact in interaction with alumni leaders, donors, parents, and various internal/external constituencies
- Must be creative, proactive, yet disciplined and able to streamline work volume to maintain bottom line efforts during multi-tasking
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; graphical design tools
- Able to manage and participate in the plan annual budget planning process for alumni engagement
- Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with annual giving colleagues
- (OIA), faculty, staff, students, and volunteers to achieve desired goals
- Experience managing events is required. Strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow through and meet deadlines
- Must be able to physically travel when appropriate to engage alumni in the life of the Collège
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work with individual and group of students from diverse academic, cultural,and socio-economic background
- Experience managing and creating metrics for student call center
- Ability to assist the teacher, staff, and the partnership with the target schools
- Ability to work independently and to respond flexibly to changing events
- Possess computer, verbal, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- High level of initiative and organization, good judgment, and discretion required
- Ability to assist in improving the program enhancement and communication throughadvertisement and social media
- Ability to develop and bring to completion multiple assignments concurrently
