Essential Functions The Assistant Vice President for Strategic Partnerships will identify, manage, and execute strategies to secure and sustain strategic partnerships in support of the priorities of the university. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement, the AVP will collaborate closely with faculty, academic leaders and advancement colleagues across UTSA to develop strategic, innovative and multifaceted opportunities to build connections with local, state and national foundation communities. The AVP will have responsibility for working with the Provost in advancing Academic Affair initiatives including Career Engaged Learning (CEL) which provides experiential learning opportunities offering students an opportunity to gain real-world experience while positively impacting self-esteem and career readiness. The AVP will supervise a central corporate and foundation engagement team as well as collaborate with college and unit development officers charged with building institutional partnerships. Specific duties include:
- Identify and manage a portfolio of relationships with key leadership or influencers among existing and potential foundation partners; design a business development plan with emphasis on the strategy that targets global foundations to fund priority program areas.
- Supervise the Corporate and Foundations Engagement (CFE) team. The Director of Corporate Engagement and the Director of Foundation Engagement are focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation engagement. The CFE team works with units and faculty across campus to help them develop, refine and implement corporate and foundation fundraising strategies by directing and coordinating activities related to obtaining major and principal level funding and support, including working with research and all programs on campus that engage these areas.
- Identify emerging business leadership and industry trends with a special emphasis on developing high value-exchange alliances to garner larger philanthropic commitments to support the mission and goals of the University.
- Develop a solid pipeline of acquisition targets that closely aligns with UTSA's foundation partnership strategy through close collaboration with senior leaders and external entities.
- Manage the development of highly competitive proposals for foundation prospects and leverage diverse foundation goals and preferences in conjunction with university goals at the local, state, and national level. Monitor proposal deadlines, prepare and edit proposals, and manage proposal submissions.
- In collaboration with the Donor Relations team, develop and oversee a high-quality stewardship process for active foundation prospects and donors. Ensure that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnerships by maintaining detailed records of solicitation activities.
- Serve as an active member of Advancement and Alumni Engagement's leadership team and collaborate with academic and administrative leadership and peers to achieve division-wide goals.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with seven years of similar experience. Additional education may be substituted on a one for one basis.
- Strong knowledge of all aspects of corporate and foundation fundraising, donor and public relations, including strategies for donor identification, cultivation and solicitation.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communications skills and political acumen to establish and maintain good working relationships within all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a "big picture" strategic view and to be a problem-solver; and ability to lead, plan and manage change.
- Demonstrated experience in executing vision into action.
- Has the ability to be a visible member of the community.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and political acumen skills.
- Adeptness in communicating complex issues to a variety of constituents and stakeholders, both written and verbal.
- Skilled decision-maker with transparency in decision-making and management.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and foster teamwork.
- Ability to interact and work with diverse groups.
Preferred Qualifications- Similar experience in higher education, a non-profit organization, or high-level management support.
Working Conditions- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.
- After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.

Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
