Fundraising at Marshall University is managed and coordinated by the Marshall University Foundation, Inc. which has a centralized function for all campus philanthropic activities. The mission of the Foundation is to support and promote the activities and programs of Marshall University. This is accomplished by providing advice and counsel regarding fundraising and philanthropy, investing and managing gifts and pledges for the University and providing a strong base of private-sector support for the University.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Prospects and Grants, the Prospect Development Coordinator (PDC) is primarily charged with facilitating research of potential and existing prospects for the Foundation. PDC will assist with grant/sponsorship documentation from identification to reporting. Additionally, the PDC will work closely with the Senior Director of Prospects and Grants to continually grow the Foundation's prospect identification process, documentation, and records database.
Research and Grants
* Assist with research for financial opportunities with prospects and grants.
* Help assess capacity, interest, philanthropy, and existing relationships to identify and qualify new prospective prospects and grants as well as new opportunities with existing prospects and grants.
* Assist with application of information discovered through proactive and reactive research and analysis on prospects and grants.
* Help maintain an active list of prospects and grants.
* Assist with determining match between institutional needs and initiatives with the funding priorities of foundations/corporate prospects.
* Help with the assembly and submission of grant requests/corporate sponsorships, including proposal, presentation, and supporting documents such as budget and letter of support.
* Assist with establishing and maintaining relationships with grant foundation and corporate partners through program officers.
* Help in the facilitation with deans, faculty, and staff on various deadlines for submissions in a timely manner.
* Assist in maintaining records, database, and calendar.

Education- Bachelor's degree, major in marketing, communication, journalism or related field.
Experience- Excellent written and oral communication skills (samples of proposal and other written work are required during interview process)
- Strong ability to plan and execute projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency of word processing, database management and spreadsheet applications (WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS)
Education- Master's degree in any field.
