Job Summary- The Director of Donor Relations reports to the Executive Director of Development and Operations. The Director of Donor Relations is responsible for managing donor relationships to raise financial support for the Midland College Foundation and Midland College. The Director of Donor Relations, in partnership with the Executive Director of Development and Operations, is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors. Primary activities include personal contacts, assisting with fundraising events, planned giving, solicitation of corporate gifts, as well as donor acknowledgement and assisting with donor records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience with donor relations experience
- Fundraising experience and four years of experience working in donor relations
- Knowledge and understanding of the function and role of the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors in the Midland community
- Experience dealing with the public and students of diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment and detail-oriented tasks
- Effectively manage time and priorities to meet established deadlines
- Work in a team environment with multiple, sometimes changing priorities
- Interact with donors, students, and colleagues in a professional manner
- Participate on behalf of the Institutional Advancement Office and Midland College in community organizations and associations as assigned
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Four or more years of donor relations and fundraising experience
- Academic and administrative experience
- Experience working with donor software; Raiser's Edge
Essential Functions
- Serve as a member of the Institutional Advancement team, working closely with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and the Executive Director of Development and Operations
- Through discovery, cultivation, and stewardship methods, increase existing donor base, provide leadership to current and prospective donors in establishing clear and effective criteria that will best meet donor wishes and College needs
- Engage directly with and inform prospective donors about Midland College's mission, goals, needs, and gift opportunities
- Cultivate dynamic relationships with donors
- Establish and oversee a process for communicating with donors through correspondence, impact reports, donor meetings, etc.
- Organize and engage in the cultivation and stewardship of donors through personal contact, including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, written correspondence
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with nonprofit organizations in the Midland community and surrounding areas
- Procure corporate and major individual gifts and sponsorships
- Work with the Executive Director-Development and Operations and the Vice President of Institutional Advancement to successfully implement appeals for major and planned gifts
- Assist with the coordination of community-wide donor-centered events, including donor appreciation events and planned giving events
- Work closely with the Marketing Department to enhance donor connections and sponsorships
- Must be available for evenings and weekends for special events, meetings, training, and conferences
- Other duties as assigned

Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
