DescriptionThe Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Emory Healthcare. We are currently seeking an Associate Director of Alumni Engagement - Leadership Engagement.
The Leadership Engagement team is responsible for coordinating and managing opportunities for Emory alumni to engage with the university and fellow alums through programs and events. This position will report to the Managing Senior Director of Alumni Engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates, maintains, and enhances the relationship between alumni and the university and among alumni themselves.
- Creates/manages strategy for recruiting, cultivating, and engaging alumni through class reunions, events, and programs for a specific school or unit.
- Plans and develops communication methods directed at alumni on an on-going basis.
- Recruits, cultivates and provides direction to volunteer leadership.
- Represents designated program/school within the division.
- Fosters relationships with other campus offices, schools/divisions.
- Monitors program budget.
- May manage event budgets.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
- Strengthen connections among alumni and constituents to inspire engagement and support of university priorities.
- Manage engagement with domestic and international alumni markets, with emphasis on digitally activated and emerging alumni communities.
- Design and lead digital engagement strategies that build and sustain alumni communities through virtual programs, online platforms, and community-based communication channels.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with alumni boards, networks, and affinity organizations under supervision.
- Serve as a primary departmental contact and represent the team in collaboration with other units across the division and university.
- Maintain accurate information on selected alumni and prospects, including activity reports, visit documentation, and CRM coding.
- Meet division metrics related to visit preparation, qualification, visits, referrals, activity reporting, and CRM data integrity.
- Track, evaluate, and report on program and event metrics to assess populations served and inform volunteer engagement goals.
- Develop and implement digital engagement plans, content strategies, and virtual experiences supporting alumni- and volunteer-led initiatives.
- Enable volunteer success by providing clear documentation, tools, and guidance for digital engagement and leadership development.
- Leverage CRM systems, digital engagement platforms, and related technologies to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
- Identify and research alumni prospects for volunteer leadership and engagement opportunities.
- Maintain knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in alumni engagement, digital community building, and volunteer management.
- Some night and weekend work is required.
- Some travel may be necessary.
- This position requires coming in person two days a week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and three years of alumni engagement, event planning, public relations or other related experience OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships across a university and/or healthcare system.
- Commitment to excellent customer service, collaborative work, and comfort operating in ambiguous or evolving contexts.
- Experience managing volunteers and engagement initiatives, including work in virtual or digital environments.
- Experience developing or supporting digital engagement strategies, virtual programs, or online communities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, mass email platforms, and project management tools.
- Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, nonprofit, or university settings.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and engagement strategies.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
