The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration of one year due to a parental leave cover. Employment location will be Berlin, Germany.
As Senior Policy Advisor - Global Hunger Index, you will play a key role in the successful conception, production and further development of the overall publication of the Global Hunger Index and manage the associated communications and advocacy work.
Your responsibilities
- Responsibility for the conception, content, production and further development of the specialist publication Welthunger-Index (WHI) in English and German as well as the coordination of an international team of partners, consultants and experts
- Representing Welthungerhilfe at external meetings and vis-à-vis political actors, partner organizations, donors, etc. as well as giving talks and presentations at events with a large (specialist) audience
- Coordinating the content and logistical preparation of events, including briefing and supporting guests
- Developing Welthungerhilfe's political positions on various development policy issues
- Advising Welthungerhilfe country offices on advocacy measures and processes
- Project management and independent administration of the project budget and acquisition of third-party funding for WHI-related components, as well as the associated preparation of applications and reports
- Preparation of briefings and presentations for department management, the Executive Board and the Board of Directors
- Coordination with other Welthungerhilfe departments on the content of publications and political positions as well as events
- Conception and implementation of workshops with Welthungerhilfe employees, partner organizations and external guests
- Steering the strategic development of the project with regard to methodology and scientific anchoring, (digital) communication and advocacy strategy
Your profile
- A University or College degree in a relevant subject area
- Several years of proven professional experience in the management of international projects
- Extensive experience in managing publications and editorial activities
- Strategic-analytical skills and experience in political processes
- Strong understanding of lobbying and advocacy work
- Willingness to familiarize oneself with new topics
- Strong coordination and organizational skills, even under time pressure
- Very good knowledge of the relevant MS Office applications
- Very good command of written and spoken German and English
