Job Summary
This position will assist the Office of Sustainability of UWM to collect, analyze and report on sustainability efforts, support UWM Office of Sustainability operations staff, and aid in coordination of sustainability programming. The Sustainability Coordinator supports various unit initiatives and serves as a sustainability resource to staff, students, and the community. In the absence of the Sustainability Director, the Sustainability Coordinator provides coverage. Hybrid work options may be available. Work will be performed primarily on the UW-Milwaukee campus, with requests for remote work considered after the initial training period. Specifics regarding work location requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or higher in any area of study
- Minimum of one year of supervision or leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, in a professional environment.
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver license (or other such valid operators permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for driving on state business as detailed here: https://uwm.edu/risk-management/drivers/
- Willingness to operate (learn and operate) a box truck in a dense urban environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Experience in data collection with a focus on sustainability metrics (e.g. energy, water, waste, etc.)
- Experience analyzing large data sets using sustainability software platforms (e.g. SIMAP)
- Experience in sustainability reporting (e.g. STARS, Greenhouse Gas Inventory, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to self-direct, make autonomous and proactive decisions, and communicate issues and concerns
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, evaluate, and modify sustainability programming
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and programs with different timelines, scales, and scopes
- Demonstrated experience operating a box truck in an urban environment
- Demonstrated experience operating a forklift or a forklift certification
- Demonstrated experience operating recycling and warehouse equipment, including cardboard baler, recycling compactor, and pallet jacks
