Senior Development Manager, Health Advocates for Older People
Overview:
Health Advocates for Older People, a well-established nonprofit organization, is seeking an effective, organized and mission-driven professional to oversee and manage the agency’s portfolio of fundraising initiatives. This includes individual giving, special events, and private and government grants. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Development Manager will lead the implementation of agency development strategy -- engaging with volunteers, funders and community partners to grow and diversify the agency’s revenue base.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
GRANTS AND INSTITUTIONAL FUNDRAISING
- Create and follow an annual grant calendar to document application and reporting submissions and deadlines.
- Prepare polished and professional written communications and presentations including grant proposals, power point presentations, and comprehensive narrative and budget reports that meet each funder’s unique requirements.
- Apply for appropriate City and State funding and respond to required reporting including invoicing and receiving the funds.
- Research potential funding sources and, with the Executive Director and volunteers, cultivate and build new relationships for the agency.
- Partner with the Executive Director and volunteers to devise and implement a corporate giving strategy.
SPECIAL EVENTS AND INDIVIDUAL GIVING
- Plan and manage existing fundraising and awareness events, including but not limited to the Treasures Gala in October and Jazz in the Garden in June, including developing and supporting volunteer leadership, organizing event meetings, managing event logistics, and collaborating with other staff.
- Implement a Year End Appeal and other themed-giving opportunities.
- Support the Executive Director in nurturing Board and other donor relationships.
- Identify new prospects through data analysis and wealth screening tools.
- Create and oversee production of invitations, brochures and other collateral as well as website updates, social media posts and press outreach to support special events and donor cultivation.
FUNDRAISING OPERATIONS AND OTHER ROLES
- Accurately record all pledges and revenues in Donor Perfect
- Develop, regularly produce, and analyze fund raising reports and data to identify trends and revenue generating opportunities and report to the Board on agency progress.
- Complete administrative tasks related to agency fundraising, marketing and communication efforts.
- Attend and support agencywide events.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers as well as independently to achieve objectives
- Proven track record in the execution of fundraising strategic plans, setting and meeting goals, and management of multi-faceted fundraising programs
- Experience with New York State and City government funding and with New York City funders of causes for older adults a plus
- Extensive background in Donor Perfect; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); skills in Canva a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising
- Bachelor’s Degree
