MOVES AND GROOVES, INC., a Nashville, TN based nonprofit which uses a proven successful arts-based curriculum to improve student outcomes, seeks an entrepreneurial, relationship-minded and detail-oriented Development Director to help build contributed revenue and meet annual campaign goals. Working side by side with a visionary Executive Director, the successful candidate will increase the number of new donors, while working collaboratively to retain and deepen the relationship with existing donors.
ABOUT MOVES AND GROOVES, INC.
Moves and Grooves, or M.A.G., was founded in 2002 by Dr. Emerald Mitchell of Portland, Oregon. While in high school, Dr. Mitchell graduated from the Self Enhancement Inc. Program, which is the model for Moves and Grooves. As a graduate of a performing arts high school, Dr. Mitchell understood the profound impact the arts could have in a young person's life. In the spirit of "giving back," she decided to volunteer her dance talents at a local community center near her university. Soon after, a community center that was originally filled with unmotivated students, were noticed to be concentrating and working hard to learn the intricate rhythmic moves that Dr. Mitchell had choreographed. A tattered community center storage room was now a makeshift dance studio where students could come to get help with homework and find freedom through dance.
Since 2002, Moves and Grooves has served Nashville-Davidson County with a focus on the Antioch area's schools. In 2019, we reached 1,150 students and can boast a 100% high school graduation rate among our students. Our future plans include increasing the number of students and schools our programs operate within, as well as continuing our MAGIC clothing line, designed and sold by our students. Further out, we are looking forward to building our own headquarters with offices, classrooms, and studio space, which will also serve as a community center and storm shelter.
