Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Alumni & Parent Engagement is responsible for assisting with the development and implementing meaningful engagement programming that creates and strengthens alumni and parent relationships and connectedness with the University. The Assistant Director provides leadership to affinity group volunteers; produces electronic communications that inform and promote engagement and philanthropic opportunities; supports on and off campus events that engage and educate constituencies on Ashland University, and works collaboratively with campus partners to advance the strategic goals of the University.
The position's core mission is to deepen relationships through events, volunteerism, and special projects.
Volunteer Engagement and Oversight
- Help drive volunteerism by assisting with the coordination of existing volunteer opportunities.
- Working in partnership with Advancement colleagues, faculty, and college leadership to design and implement creative, innovative strategies with the goal of involving an increased number of alumni in the life of the University.
- Recruit volunteers to increase alumni engagement and participation in recruitment events, career related events, and other alumni volunteer pieces.
- Assist in engaging, training, and stewarding constituents in order to build the volunteer pipeline.
- Serve as a constituent relations liaison to alumni, friends, and donors to the University; assist with questions that arise, provide information requested, and help promote a positive alumni engagement experience to connect them to the University.
Communication and Marketing- Create content for print or online invitations, emails, and engagement updates to share with alumni and friends.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications and serve as liaison with projects including proofing communication material.
- Develop content for and share University related content on social media pages for alumni (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
- Maintains the advancement division's communication calendar and coordinates the production of communications sent to alumni.
Events and Special Projects- Assist in the strategy and development of key on-campus programming; including by not limited to, Homecoming and Family Weekend, AUAA Awards Luncheon, Senior Night, and Legacy Recognition at Commencement.
- Assist with off-campus events designed to engage and educate alumni, parents, and friends with Ashland University.
- Coordinate and update information to be included in graduation packets at Commencement.
- Support the development and engagement of the AUAA Board of Directors.
- Identify opportunities for virtual engagement events and activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Value a strong team culture.
- Progressive experience in volunteer management, alumni engagement, marketing/communication, event planning, or comparable roles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with computer software, CRMs, and/or online marketing tools.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends and travel when required.
