SummaryBowling Green State University is seeking a bold and experienced professional to serve as the Vice President for University Advancement and President and CEO of the BGSU Foundation. This key leader will be responsible for the entire advancement portfolio, including all fundraising, alumni and donor engagement, and operations. Reporting to the President, the VP/CEO will design and execute a comprehensive, data-driven strategy to launch the University's next major fundraising campaign. We're looking for a collaborative, future-facing leader who can cultivate lifelong relationships and inspire philanthropic investment to ensure BGSU's long-term sustainability and impact.
Essential FunctionsEssential Duties and Responsibilities:- In partnership with the President and senior leadership, elevate the effectiveness of the advancement enterprise.
- Lead the integration of fundraising, alumni engagement, corporate partnerships, brand storytelling, and community impact under a shared vision of purpose and progress.
- Lead the BGSU Foundation, under the direction of the Board of Directors of the BGSU Foundation to strategically advance this entity to maximize its impact and sustainability.
- Build strong personal and professional collaborative relationships with the entire University community and represent BGSU at off-campus and public events.
- Provide leadership for the ongoing execution of BGSU's fundraising and any campaigns, developing an annual integrated fundraising strategy aligned with University priorities.
- Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward a select portfolio of highest-level prospects.
- Lead and manage the Advancement team in engagement of alumni and supporters to attract philanthropic support on behalf of the institution.
- Develop and implement performance metrics and assessment tools for data-informed decision-making and productivity.
- Plan and manage the development budget, ensuring that resources are deployed efficiently and effectively with fundraising goals and objectives at the forefront.
Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in advancement, development, or a related field, with a strong track record of raising major and principal gifts and leading comprehensive campaigns.
- Demonstrated success in managing and motivating high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans aligned with institutional priorities, including experience working directly with presidents, provosts, deans, and boards.
- Deep understanding of donor engagement strategies, pipeline development, and the integration of data, technology, and storytelling in philanthropic operations.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently and attend evening/weekend events as needed.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet the University's driving policy.

- Proven track record of success in personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and principal gifts from individual and institutional donors.
- Demonstrated talent in developing and implementing strategies, plans, and budgets in a complex, fast-changing environment.
- Unflappable in the face of multiple challenges, highly motivated, and possessing a disciplined work ethic, a competitive nature, a creative approach, and a proven ability to lead.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
