General Description
The Director of Major Gifts will be an innovative development professional responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and securing major individual, corporation, foundation, non-profit and philanthropic gifts to meet the short and long term fundraising goals of the department and College. The Director of Major Gifts is to develop long-term relationships with alumni, donors and prospects built on a firm understanding of the donors' interests, passions, and values, with the purpose of cultivating, soliciting, and securing large gifts ($10,000+). The Director of Major Gifts will maintain a portfolio of high end prospects as designated by the supervisor. The Major Gifts Officer works collaboratively and strategically with and in support of the College leadership to develop and implement strategies for individual donor relationship management and cultivation. The position may supervise other Development staff and volunteers.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum (5) years' work experience with alumni relations and event management.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
Knowledge about trends in higher education, annual giving, philanthropy, and alumni engagement.
Knowledge of fundraising and alumni engagement best practices.
Knowledge of social media platforms.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Knowledge of presentation software and desktop publishing applications.
Skills:
Understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations.
Expertise/proficiency in all areas listed in the Essential Functions of the position description.
Strong experience with alumni relations, events planning, logistics, and management with proven record in managing alumni relation processes, events and programs.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is light work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
Minimum (5) years' work experience with fundraising, alumni relations, and event management at an institution of higher education
Professional fundraising certification such as CFRE.
Required Training
Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Some evening and weekend hours as needed.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
New donor identification, cultivation and stewardship of existing donors to increase overall retention and giving levels, and relationship management between donors and others on the board and staff who work with them.
Develop solicitation strategies for donors / prospects in support of the organization's annual fund, planned giving, and growth campaigns; ensure strategies are compatible and maximize opportunities with other existing campaigns and appeals.
Support the fundraising efforts of the College in securing new and renewed gifts.
Work collaboratively with members of the advancement department to develop and maintain a detailed campaign plan and calendar in order to achieve campaign goals.
Maintain up to date knowledge of major programmatic initiatives.
Plan and implement events and activities (volunteer experiences, tours, receptions, friend-raisers, etc.) for individual major gift donors, using existing activities as appropriate; engage in networking activities or other opportunities to generate potential prospects for cultivation.
Work closely with Foundation trustees, College advisory Board members, academic leaders, faculty, staff and other volunteers to identify and engage new prospects.
Work with the leadership to strategize and help execute cultivation events for major donors and prospects.
Be a visible presence at development department special events, such as major donor cultivation events and fundraisers.
Be an ambassador in the community for Oklahoma City Community College.
