Organizational Overview:
The Contra Costa Immigrant Rights Alliance (CCIRA) is a dynamic coalition of community, faith, advocacy, and immigrant-led organizations that first came together in the spring of 2017 to provide a platform for collective action in support of immigrants throughout Contra Costa County. Our mission is to transform Contra Costa into a county that warmly embraces, respects, and safeguards the rights of all its immigrant community members. CCIRA is fiscally sponsored by Immigrant Action Network (IAN), a 501(c)(3) organization committed to advancing immigrant inclusion.
Position Overview:
CCIRA is looking for a coalition director that can facilitate a county-wide coalition, identify advocacy opportunities, build and execute campaign plans, and build collaborations with allied organizations across the region and state. Reporting to and supported by an advisory board, the Director will do the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead coalition partners and community leaders to create, pass, and implement policy advocacy opportunities that materially improve the lives of immigrants in Contra Costa Country.
- Identify advocacy issues and create and execute action plans.
- Analyze what it takes to win, build a successful plan, and execute.
- Lead a coalition of diverse partners to create strategic plans, with measurable deliverables, and shore up the shared resources to execute the necessary tactics and activities.
- Create and successfully execute fundraising plans aimed at foundations and local donors to sustain the work.
- Manage staff members that interface with key partners and impacted community members to organize and facilitate direct services.
- Create and sustain relationships with Bay Area immigrant rights leaders to work towards regional collaboration and plans.
- Participate in fellow Contra Costa coalition spaces, representing the collective work of CCIRA.
Ideal candidates:
- Experiences in policy and legal advocacy.
- An understanding of Contra Costa’s political landscape.
- Experience working within a coalition and the ability to build consensus.
- Experience in campaigns that includes multiple tactics to win (comms, organizing, advocacy).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Personal or professional experience within the immigrant community.
- Bilingual in English and a secondary language.
- Ability to engage with diverse racial/ethnic communities.
- Contra Costa residency is a priority.
- Must possess a car, insurance, and a current driver's license.
