Position Summary
This position reports to the Director of Advancement Systems and Reporting. The Analyst's responsibilities includes evaluating data structures and integrity for the purposes of reporting and analysis. The role has responsibilities including maintaining 1-2 advancement technology platforms, business process development, training and documentation. In addition, this role will also carry responsibilities such as utilize, load and synchronize data between various advancement platforms, data analysis, report writing, programming, training and technical support for advancement. This position partners with units across the division to ensure technology and data solutions align with business needs and departmental goals. Proficiency working with large datasets, relational databases and various reporting tools. Acute attention to detail, strong organization, prioritization, judgment, and problem-solving skills and work with discretion due to the confidential nature of information will be necessary for success. 35% Business, Data and Systems - Responsible for maintaining 1-2 key department technologies (i.e. volunteer management platform, online community, reporting tools, etc.) including implementation, product upgrades/enhancements, creating processes for updating information from 3rd parties, and ETL processes related to data integration with other platforms or reporting.
- Implement responsibilities related to data integrity of data and the coordination of year-end processes among several technology platforms.
- Maintain, document and coordinate calendar of data processes related to new records, data appends, end of year data cleansing and related business workflows to maintain integrity of systems and reports.
50% Reporting and Data Analysis - Responsible for executing a reporting strategy that involves the use of various platforms to achieve program and division needs. This position is responsible for fulfilling data requests, writing reports, maintaining and updating a suite of reports for advancement partners.
- Report writing includes 20% of SQL programming, and reports in MS Reporting Services or Power BI, in addition to other reporting tools within advancement platforms.
- Collaborate with various advancement staff on utilizing data to meet business needs, using advancement technology to enhance business processes; and as a means to communicate business processes where multi-functional processes impact divisional staff - to attain greater efficiency and effectiveness in their work.
- Responsible for identifying key metrics and reports for advancement partners and providing data analysis as needed related to assisting partners to assess progress toward goals, inform current and future strategies to attain goals, review and maintain technology platforms as part of strategies and review, propose and employ industry best practices on an ongoing basis.
- Identify reporting efficiencies across the department to reduce the quantity of reports, with a focus on qualitative and key performance indicators that are aligned to divisional goals.
15% Training and Technical Support - Plan and provide regular/scheduled training sessions with department liaisons and/or division.
- Support onboarding by assisting with setup of accounts, access to advancement platforms, and troubleshooting technology used by staff. Work with vendors to create and maintain processes for accurate data transfer and integration between systems for various staff, volunteers and constituency-at-large.
- Liaison with the College Information Technology department on various advancement tools and ongoing needs.
- Other duties as assigned, including supporting key Advancement events during evenings or weekends and completing special projects assigned by the supervisor or the Associate Vice President for Development Operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience working with relational databases, data analysis, or reporting, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and other relevant software applications.
- Demonstrated experience with data analysis and continuous business process improvement.
- SQL programming experience required; experience with MS Reporting Services, Visual Studio, and the Microsoft Power Platform preferred.
- Strong commitment to accuracy, consistency, and the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Knowledge of fundraising, philanthropy, and advancement operations preferred.
