Director, Alumni Engagement
Job Description
The Director of Alumni Engagement serves as theoperational and strategic lead, in partnership with the Associate Vice President for Alumni Engagement, for Trinity College’s alumniengagement programs and initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Alumni Engagement, the Director provides day-to-dayleadership of the alumni engagement team, oversees the planning and execution of alumni programs and events, and ensures a cohesive,data-informed engagement strategy across on-campus, regional, and volunteer-led activities. This role supervises a small team of 4 and worksclosely with campus partners to advance Trinity’s goals related to alumni connection, participation, and lifelong engagement.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Partner with the AVP to develop and implement a comprehensivealumni engagement strategy aligned with institutional priorities and Advancement goals.
- Translate strategic priorities into annualplans, metrics, and staff work plans.
- Serve as a thought partner to the AVP on trends in alumni engagement, volunteerism, andconstituent experience.
- Act as the primary point of coordination for alumni engagement operations when the AVP is focused onexternal or divisional priorities.
Team Management & Collaboration
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, andperformance management for team.
- Foster collaboration across portfolios to ensure a seamless alumni experience.
- Supportprofessional development and succession planning within the team.
- Work closely with the Senior Coordinator to ensure strongadministrative, budgetary, and CRM support.
Alumni Programs & Events Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight ofTrinity’s signature alumni programs, including Fall Weekend, Reunion, milestone celebrations, and other on-campus experiences.
- Ensure consistency in program quality, alumni experience, and institutional messaging.
Volunteer Engagement & Leadership
- Oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive volunteer engagement model, including recruitment, onboarding, training,recognition, and stewardship.
- Ensure clarity of roles and expectations for alumni volunteers, class leaders, and affinity orregional leaders.
- Develop lifecycle programming from prospective student to alum, partnering with Admissions, Student Life,etc.
- Partner with Advancement colleagues to align volunteer engagement with fundraising and admissions priorities whereappropriate.
Data, Assessment & Operations
- Establish and monitor key engagement metrics (participation, reach,retention, volunteer activity).
- Use data to inform program decisions, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure accurate tracking of engagement activity in the CRM.
- Assist the AVP with budget development, forecasting, and expensemanagement for alumni engagement.
Campus & Advancement Partnerships
- Serve as a key liaison to campus partnersincluding Development, Admissions, Academic Affairs, Career Development, and Student Life.
- Collaborate on cross-functionalinitiatives that enhance alumni connection to students, faculty, and institutional priorities.
- Support alumni board and committeeactivity as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5-8 Years of experience
- Experience in alumni engagement, advancement, higher education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing staff andleading teams.
- Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with alumnivolunteers or advisory groups.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across a complexorganization.
