Reporting to the Michael and Sonja Koerner President & CEO, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) will be a strategic and results-driven leader responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy to advance The Royal Conservatory of Music's mission and growth. This role will oversee all revenue-generating activities—including major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, foundations, planned giving, special events, and digital fundraising—and ensure excellence in donor engagement, stewardship, and compliance.
The CDO will partner closely with the President & CEO, Board of Directors, Finance, Program Areas, and Marketing & Communications to align philanthropy with organizational priorities and secure sustainable revenue growth. The VP will also provide leadership to volunteer fundraising committees and maintain a personal portfolio of high-level donors.
The Royal Conservatory of Music is one of the largest and most respected music education institutions in the world, providing the definitive standard of excellence in curriculum design, assessment, performance training, teacher certification, and arts-based social programs. At its national base, the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning in Toronto, The Royal Conservatory offers classes and lessons for individuals of all ages and abilities at the Oscar Peterson School of Music, as well as an extensive set of training programs for gifted young artists through The Glenn Gould School and The Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists. The Royal Conservatory also presents and produces a wide range of concerts featuring the finest Canadian and international artists in its magnificent performance spaces, including the internationally acclaimed Koerner Hall, Temerty Theatre, and Mazzoleni Concert Hall in historic Ihnatowycz Hall. At least ten years of progressive fundraising leadership experience is required for this position. The Royal Conservatory of Music will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. The salary range for this position is $307,000 to $315,000 CAD.
