Summary of Essential Job Functions
The Major Gifts Officer at Jesuit Dallas isresponsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors and prospective donors in support of Jesuit’s funding goalsand initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Development, the ideal candidate is self-motivated with a proven track record of successfulrelationship building and securing of philanthropic gifts, or a successful sales record in the for-profit sector.
EssentialFunctions
- Cultivate, solicit, steward, and manage a portfolio of 150-200 major gift prospects including alumni, parents,parents of grads, and others in the Jesuit community
- Directly solicit gifts, working with advancement staff, administration,faculty, and volunteers to implement successful strategies for major gifts, annual appeals, and event sponsorships
- Conductface-to-face and virtual donor visits; prepare solicitation materials and proposals
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records inthe donor database
- Collaborate with members of the advancement staff during fundraising/community events, gift recognition,reporting, etc., and all activities that support the operational needs of the Advancement Office
- Serve on committees as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required with three or more years of experience in a fundraising orsales environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven success building and maintaining trustedrelationships with key stakeholders and the ability to interact with multiple constituencies
- Ability to communicate thephilosophy and mission of the School as part of the cultivation process; strong ties to Jesuit community, a plus
- Demonstratedaccomplishment in the acquisition of donor gifts and the ability to strategize, formulate, and close gifts
- Ability to handlemultiple tasks in an exciting, fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, a bonus
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Minimal travel and occasional night and weekend work may be required
- Works in a stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- May alternatively work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time while also spending a lot of hours walking and/orstanding
- Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
