The Community Program Assistant’s role provides vital administrative and programmatic support to the Community Department and is instrumental in fostering an inclusive, inspiring environment for community members. The Assistant supports the implementation of RNH’s growing community enrichment classes for all ages (e.g. music, art, physical fitness, test preparation) and events (e.g. talks and workshops). The Assistant will be responsible for maintaining an online registration system and managing inquiries, contracts, and day-of logistics. The Assistant will also build strong relationships with community members and other stakeholders to enhance the impact of community activities.
A member of the Community Division, this position will report to the Director of Community Strengthening and collaborate with other members of the Community Department to help execute programs and events. This position requires strong organizational skills, an ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously, a creative spirit, and an enthusiasm for forging relationships internally and with community partners. The position provides a unique opportunity to engage and empower community members through diverse art, cultural, and enrichment activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the planning and execution of community classes, events, and programs
- Collaborate with the Director of Community Strengthening on the development of new community activities, including recruiting and onboarding new instructors.
- Coordinate with instructors, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of community activities; prioritizing clear communication and safety.
- Organize community activities (classes, community talks, special events, etc.) in alignment with program goals; provide setup and breakdown of community activities, including materials and supplies, technology, refreshments/catering, and other program needs.
- Maintain an online scheduling system and track attendance, survey data, and other class and participant data to ensure alignment with overall goals; create community activity reports.
- Respond to inquiries from community members, including email and phone calls
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with community members and partners, including schools, organizations, and individuals; create a welcoming atmosphere for community members.
- Collaborate with RNH departments to coordinate community classes and events on site and to amplify community outreach efforts.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two years related administrative experience
- Experience developing programs focused on community-centered activities preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency in Google Workplace (particularly Docs & Sheets)
- Experience working with databases and/or CRM system
- Strong customer service skills
- Comfortable managing changing priorities to support daily operational needs
- Sensitivity to the experience of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Sense of humor and ability to work in changing environment
- Able to work some weekends; some flexibility during weekdays
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift 20+ lbs while transporting and storing program supplies, rearranging rooms, moving office equipment, or setting up program venues.
