About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development and Events Coordinator play a key role in advancing and managing the events portfolio for Parkinson Society British Columbia (PSBC). This position works closely with the Director to support and grow the Society’s fundraising initiatives, with a focus on third-party events and the successful execution of our flagship event, Parkinson SuperWalk. The coordinator will assist in planning, organizing, and delivering a calendar of fundraising and community events, while also contributing to donor engagement, communications, and writing projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to build and expand fundraising skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment, while being a point person for events.

While most staff primarily work remotely, the nature of events necessitate this as a hybrid position and in-office work will be required under the direction of the Director, Development.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in event management, from initial planning through to successful execution. They will demonstrate a strong interest in developing their fundraising expertise and contributing to the not-for-profit sector. The successful candidate is highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities with ease and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and meticulous record-keeping are essential to success in this role.

Duties of the Development and Events Coordinator:

Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including our signature event SuperWalk
Develop event timelines, manage logistics and track expenses
Liaise with vendors, identify potential sponsors, and partners
Identify and solicit potential sponsors and in-kind donors for events
Manage event registration platforms and tools within various databases
Secure venues, permits, vendors, entertainment, and catering and ensure all deliverables are met
Distribute resources and materials, including event agreements and ensure brand standards are met
Engage and reach out to supporters to drive event participation and fundraising efforts
Provide support for event, donation, or general fundraising inquiries
Oversee event set-up, registration, volunteer management, and clean-up
Ensure events run smoothly and meet attendance and engagement goals
Maintain detailed records of events, donors, sponsors, and outcomes
Run online and in person training for volunteers and staff
Coordinate post-event activities, track and report statistics and event evaluations
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, sponsors and community partners
Assist in training co-op students during event season
Represent the organization professionally at community events and networking opportunities

Qualifications:

Experience in event planning in a professional capacity
Interest in fundraising and working with a non-profit
Attention to detail and extremely organized
Diploma or certificate in event management, hospitality, communications preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating compassion and sensitivity to vulnerable populations
Professional communication, both in written and verbal form, including in sensitive situations, while maintaining confidentiality
Raisers Edge/Team Raiser or other similar databases
Experience and comfort in managing interactions with varying personalities; uses sound judgement in escalating matters of concern
Able to manage a fast-paced environment during event season
Technologically oriented; with training, must be able to utilize existing project management platform(s)
High level of experience with computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat (using PDFs) and PowerPoint; must also have experience completing mail merges
Experience working in non-profits or with a senior population an asset
Physically able to lift/carry moderate weight (~30lbs)
Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle

Salary range: $60,000 to $67,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

Job Type: Full time, 35 hours a week Monday to Friday
