The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) seeks an Associate Director to support the Executive Director on strategic, operations and administration of the organization as needed (30%). A primary responsibility of this role is to develop and manage sponsorship relationships and new opportunities throughout the organization (40%) and to support the Study Groups in activating educational activities, connections and resources throughout the year (30%).

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Works closely with Executive Director to set revenue targets, identify opportunities for financial support for MASCC programs and services
Works closely with the Executive Director to formulate new ideas and innovative strategies for educational activity, business and sponsorship opportunities in alignment with MASCC’s strategic priorities. This includes initiatives to generate new forms of revenue
Acts on behalf of the Executive Director in his or her absence
Oversees all aspects of opportunity development, including fostering relationships with existing and potential sponsors, proposal and concept development, needs assessment, curriculum overview, evaluation, project plan and budget development based on educational needs and gaps. The individual must be able to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders with the highest degree of professionalism
Identify potential grant opportunities relevant to MASCC and prepare grant proposals and submissions, managing all aspects of grant agreements- work plans and activities, including project reports and budgets
Manage 19 Study Groups and provide support to help them achieve their goals including annual reporting, progress throughout the year and ensuring agreed project outputs are met, managing the project from inception through program launch
Be the staff point person for Committees and as others deemed necessary by the Executive Director
Develop annual meeting sponsorship prospectus and work with sponsors to identify programming needs, booth space and exhibition needs and target audience and improve/increase awareness
Promotes continuous growth of MASCC’s education and evidence-based practice and resources for health care professionals, through the development of high-quality education to enhance awareness, knowledge, competence, and improve patient outcomes
Contribute to the overall success of MASCC by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned

The individual has a professional demeanor is energetic, self-motivated, proactive, creative, and customer-service focused. This position will provide vital leadership to the essential programs and lead all fundraising and development activities. Knowledge, Skills and Experience include:

Bachelor's degree and Master’s degree. Advanced degree and certificate in fundraising is considered a plus
10+ years of management experience in healthcare not-for-profit environments and/or fundraising, development and managing corporate/sponsor relationships
Demonstrated success in managing relationships with sponsors, identifying sponsor needs and securing the opportunity that meets the needs of sponsors and MASCC
Strong understanding, knowledge, and navigation of biotech and/or pharmaceutical compliance issues in sponsorship
Experience in grant and proposal development, preferred
Ability to deliver on-time and within budget approved projects within established parameters using own judgment; ability to negotiate with subject matter experts and partners to negotiate such contracts and timelines
Ability to establish and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with staff, consultants, association members and volunteers
Team player with cooperative spirit and ability to juggle multiple projects at one time
Experience working in nonprofit organizations and an understanding of supportive care in cancer is considered a plus
Professionalism: Good judgment; ability to interact with volunteers, and partners
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills is required
Use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Zoom.
Ability to travel on company business (typically 2-3 meetings a year) and occasionally work evenings or weekends (in order to facilitate communications across time zones around the world)
