We are seeking an Associate Director of Development to join our Development and Alumni Engagement team, where ambition, partnership, and collaboration drive more than $100M raised annually to advance leading‑edge research, education, and community impact.

The Associate Director of Development plays a pivotal role in advancing the Faculty of Medicine’s vision of transforming health for everyone, driving meaningful relationships that accelerate discovery, education, and innovation across the health sciences. This is a strategic major gift fundraising role for a relationship‑driven professional who thrives at the intersection of donor partnership, institutional mission and faculty engagement. Working with confidence, courage, creativity, and curiosity, the Associate Director contributes to a collaborative, high‑performing Development & Alumni Engagement (DAE) team while leading complex fundraising initiatives that result in lasting impact for the Faculty of Medicine and the communities it serves.

The successful candidate will:

Build and steward a portfolio of high‑value, donor‑centered relationships by aligning donor vision and philanthropic intent with institutional strategy, positioning donors as long‑term partners in impact.
Act as a trusted strategic partner to faculty members, shaping and advancing complex fundraising opportunities that support the Faculty of Medicine’s ambitious health sciences research, education, and innovation initiatives.
Collaborate closely with seasoned advancement colleagues across the DAE team to design and execute sophisticated major gift strategies—including the co‑creation of compelling, donor‑focused proposals—and to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects capable of gifts ranging from $1M to $5M+.

An accomplished major gift fundraiser who is ready to operate at a strategic level, deepen leadership influence, and engage in continuous learning that positions them for future senior advancement roles is ideal for this position. The Associate Director of Development will have the opportunity to co-create and manage increasingly complex fundraising initiatives that may involve coordinating and mobilizing multiple stakeholders across various functions, contribute to program‑wide strategy, and mentor Development Officers and other colleagues—building the breadth of experience, visibility, and institutional impact that supports continued career progression. This position reports to one of three Directors of Development, and, together with other Associate Directors, is part of the Frontline Fundraiser leadership group, which helps shape priorities and strategies for frontline fundraisers across the team.

This role is eligible for UBC’s hybrid work programand has a Compensation Range of Min. $99,661– Mid. $124,447– Max. $155,428 CAD annually.

The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.
