Afterschool Program Manager Trainee
Working under the direction of the Associate Director and the current Afterschool Manager, the Trainee will learn every aspect of LaAmistad's Afterschool program, Anímate Summer Academy and provide educational leadership for the students and staff members consistent with the mission and vision of the organization. The Trainee will take over the administration and supervision of the Afterschool program and Anímate Summer Academy when the training period ends. The role will require hands on learning, formal training and will act largely as a support to the Afterschool Manager during the training period.
Functions of this position include establishing a climate conducive to learning, defining roles, planning and coordinating programs, effecting change, and decision-making for both LaAmistad Afterschool and Animate.
The projected formal transition into the Afterschool Manager role is July 1 2025.

- Analyze, share, evaluate and review program, local school, district and student achievement data to develop and implement LaAmistad Afterschool
- Implement systematic procedures to assess program effectiveness
- Monitor and evaluate all data
- Work with teachers, parents, schools and staff to ensure appropriate programming for all students
- Identify staff and volunteer training needs; develop and implement plan to meet those needs in partnership with the Afterschool Team
- Supervise and evaluate staff (upon full transition)
- Prepare a variety of written reports and correspondence
- Establish and maintain relationships with the parents, volunteers, staff and other community organizations to ensure ongoing, two-way communication and initiate activities which foster productive parent and community involvement
- Ensure a safe and joyful experience for students, staff and volunteers
DUTIES:

- Understand how to monitor and adhere to program budgets
- Guide and support daily operations of LaAmistad Afterschool and Anímate
- Conduct regular program site visits for programmatic evaluations to ensure that all locations meet program quality expectations and compliance measures (Afterschool programs end between 5-5:30 PM and are located throughout Metro Atlanta)
- Secure and deliver the appropriate tools and supplies for each location as needed
- Maintains relationships with program partners and seeks their feedback regularly as assigned
- Identify and resolve operational issues as they arise with team feedback
- Serves as a resource to students, parents, and staff for the purpose of providing information and addressing questions and concerns in a timely manner
- Own recruitment and enrollment of students in partnership with respective schools

- Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- Each role with LaAmistad contributes to a strong team. To support the team, you will likely be required to walk quickly across varying distances on our campuses, lift and carry supplies and other materials, push heavy rolling carts, and climb multiple flights of stairs as well as have adequate hearing and vision to successfully navigate the requirements of the position
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Thorough knowledge of curriculum, instruction, operations, and student services
- Demonstrated competence in staff selection, training, supervision and evaluation
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to act effectively under stress
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and work with staff to ensure outstanding performance as well as good morale
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Exceptional logistics and planning/predicting skills
- MUST have prior administrative or supervisory experience
- Minimum of five years of experience in education or related field of which at least three years must be of successful teaching or leading
- Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered
- Exceptional administrative skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Preferred Bilingual - Spanish speaking
