The office of Development and Alumni Relation is accepting applications for a Director of Development & Alumni Relations. This position will support the efforts of the office as it works to meet institutional goals through education, fundraising, engagement and outreach of the College's alumni, parents, and friends.

Program Responsibilities:
- Maintains current knowledge of College policies.
- Communicate well and respectfully with and within a diverse community.
- Represents the college in a positive, professional manner while maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity, and ethically based principles.
- Maintains a high level of collaboration and communication with department members and other offices.
- Interacts with and responds promptly, professionally, and accurately to requests for information from internal and external constituents.
- Positions the College, communicates, and implements program strategies in ways that support institutional goals and fundraising priorities and without bias towards specific departments.
- Collaborates and communicates with development officers, departments, senior administrators, and volunteers to accomplish shared and coordinated institutional goals while respecting organizational structure.
- Works effectively and collegially with other faculty and staff members.
Strategic Responsibilities:
- Strengthens ties between alumni, friends, parents, student leaders and the College.
- Prioritizes projects in ways that support the overall mission of the College, raise visibility of the College, increase numbers of alumni and friends who are engaged with the College.
- Considers both short- and long-term implications and benefits of decision-making.
- Works with multiple stakeholders to determine strategic focus on constituencies that will yield the highest return on investment towards specific institutional goals.
- Educates prospective donors, volunteers, current students, and other constituents about the importance of annual giving to Hiram College with a degree of maturity, professionalism, and credibility that instills confidence among constituents.
- Supports development officers in their fundraising efforts including event support, implementing their priorities into communication strategy, and participating in solicitation process as needed.
Tactical Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and steward annual fund donors
- Provides project implementation support for annual fundraising initiatives including giving platforms.
- Provides project implementation support for select alumni events and programs designed to engage Hiram's alumni and friends more closely in the life the College.
- Selects, mentors, and schedules the volunteer efforts of the Hiram College Student Ambassadors.
- Plans and executes the annual Alumni Weekend event on campus in conjunction with the Executive Director and the Vice President, including finding and scheduling volunteers, contracting with presenters and external vendors, working within an established budget, collaborating with other essential offices on campus, communicating with registrants, and preparing post-event ROI for Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations.
- Plans and executes the Homecoming on campus in conjunction with the Executive Director and the Vice President, including finding and scheduling volunteers, contracting with external vendors, working within an established budget, collaborating with other essential offices on campus, communicating with registrants, and preparing post-event ROI for Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations.
- Works to build awareness of the importance of philanthropy on campus among students, faculty, and staff including but not limited to activities such as Philanthropy Week and Giving Day.
- Coordinates the department's development and fundraising initiatives in conjunction with the Executive Director and the Vice President including but not limited to maintaining alumni and giving websites, e-newsletters, emails, and social media relating to fundraising.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Responds promptly and effectively to requests for information and within college and office guidelines.
- Notifies the Executive Director, or other senior staff of concerns, inquiries and issues requiring special attention.
- Works within and maintains the departmental budget.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education:
- Five plus years of experience working directly with clients, customers, donors or alumni preferably in a higher education setting
- Demonstrated event-planning and fundraising success
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree or equivalent preferred.
