JOB SUMMARY:
Data Entry Technician plays a foundational role in supporting the success of the Office of Institutional Advancement (IA). Persons in this role have primary responsibility for data entry and their work impacts the decision making and planning of others. They also assist the IA department with a variety of other office duties. This is primarily an internal facing customer service position and attention to detail, timely service, accurate entry and a can-do attitude are important factors for success. The Data Entry Technician reports to the Director of Advancement Services. This position must demonstrate willingness and ability to support and actively contribute to the Catholic and Franciscan mission and values of the university.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Maintains and updates computer files involving donors, gifts, alumni, and fundraising events as well as projects to insure accurate and complete data collection, organization, and retrieval.
- Maintains record keeping and filing systems.
- Performs receipting, check processing, and financial reporting functions, as required.
- Works with and guides work study students.
- May attend in-service as directed to update knowledge and skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Minimum of an associate's degree or its equivalent required; degree in a business related major preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of two years' experience in providing office support required.
- Course work or training in office operations including typing, office procedures, and word processing, course work or computer training.
- Data entry experience required.
- Accounts receivable/payable experience is helpful, but not required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrates well-developed knowledge of office operations, policies and procedures and business communications.
- Demonstrates well-developed knowledge of computers and office equipment. Skilled in use of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new and complex software systems.
- Database and/or CRM (customer relationship management) knowledge helpful.
- Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with all students, faculty, and staff of the university.
- Requires a team attitude and ability to work independently and accurately.
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to follow-through and complete tasks.
- Must be capable of handling confidential material and projecting professionalism.
- Must be able to interpret source material, think critically and make routine judgments.
- Possess the ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instruction.
