Job SummaryThe Execuitve Director of Resource Development & External Relations manages donor development and all facets of community communications and relationships.
Essential Job Duties- Works closely with the dean to develop fundraising priorities, create a development plan and secure gifts that promote the mission of the College
- Serves as the liaison between the College of Veterinary Medicine and the University Office of Advancement, ensuring compliance with all university policies and procedures and participates in university-wide resource development activities
- Works collaboratively with the CVM Director of External & Alumni Affairs and staff to promote alumni support and engagement; development of alumni activities and events; and all forms of public relations for the College
- Captures prospective donors and continuously engage current donors and supporters
- Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates fundraising activities, including attending events to identify potential donors
- Prepares briefings and gift agreements for prospective donors
- Builds donor relations by nurturing relationships with donors and stakeholders
- Develops a volunteer database by identifying volunteers through recruitment; train and oversee volunteers to assist with achieving the college's mission and legacy
- Researches and identifies grant opportunities and the ability to write grant proposals as part of the philanthropic efforts
- Conducts ongoing research to identify new funding resources
- Supervises and coaches resource development staff which includes providing opportunities for professional and development to achieve organizational goals with objectives
- Maintains accuracy of donor/prospects database and revenue generated through the resource development office and accounted/confirmed through the CVM Budget Office director
- Provides leadership for resource development department team meetings and attend leadership meetings and other internal/external meetings as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field such as marketing, communications, public relations, business administration, and data analytics
- Previous administrative experience in academia or business with supervisory responsibilities
- 3-5 years of experience in philanthropy and fundraising strategies
- Knowledge of veterinary and/or medical school fundraising strategies
Physical Demands- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to walk short distances
- Ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items
- Ability to prepare and analyzing data and figures
- Ability to view a computer terminal; extensive reading
