Brandeis University seeks to hire an Associate Director for Alumni Relations. This person will play a key role in driving alumni engagement and volunteer leadership development within Shared Interest and Identity Groups, as well as other alumni affinity organizations. This position is responsible for creating and executing impactful programming that fosters a strong sense of community among alumni, while also cultivating and supporting volunteer leaders. The Associate Director works closely with the Alumni Association to advance its strategic goals, providing critical support and guidance to ensure the success of alumni initiatives and the university's broader mission
Primary Responsibilities- Contributes to development of Alumni Relations engagement strategy by managing and stewarding alumni volunteers in Shared Interest and Identity Groups, including but not limited to the Alumni of Color Network, the Brandeis Arts Alumni Network (including Alumni Art Gallery), the Brandeis Women's Network, the Lawyers Alumni Network, LGBTQIA+ Network, and Friends of Brandeis Athletics.
- Advisor to staff members responsible for managing Shared Interest and Identity Groups
- Recruit, train and engage volunteers to actively support alumni programs and initiatives. Builds partnerships with IA colleagues and campus offices to design and execute alumni and student-alumni engagement opportunities relevant to Shared Interest and Identity Groups.
- Creates strategy and develops short- and long-term goals for Shared Interest and Identity Groups, including the identification and on-boarding of new groups.
- Staff the Alumni Board committee for Shared Interest and Identity Group Leaders.
- Develops marketing strategy for Shared Interest and Identity Groups, including e-newsletters and social media tools
- Oversees unique (one-time) milestone/anniversary events for student organizations, including but not limited to the Waltham Group, varsity and athletic club teams, student newspapers, performing groups, etc. Responsible for collaborating within Institutional Advancement and across campus in the execution of these anniversary events.
- Manages Shared Interest and Identity Group budget.
- Oversees engagement metrics related to Shared Interest and Identity Groups; ensures relevant constituent data is entered on a timely basis to CRM system
QualificationsBachelor's degree required plus 5-8 years of total work-related experience, preferably in event and volunteer management; 1-3 years of supervisory or management experience is also required.
Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with colleagues of various responsibility areas, exhibiting excellent written and oral communications skills.
Ability to apply good judgment and discretion when dealing with highly confidential alumni, parent, student, family, donor prospect information.
Must be a detail-oriented, self-starter with an ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities to meet challenging timelines and achieve annual goals.
Adheres to University and departmental business policies and procedures.
Presents a collegial, collaborative and customer-service demeanor that positively reflects the core values and standards of the institution and demonstrates tact and diplomacy.
Must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as well as occasional travel to events, with an attitude of doing what it takes to get the job done.
