PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Vice President for Development & Campaign Director will
lead all fundraisers in the planning and implementation of long- and short-term strategies to secure gifts from individuals and organizations through principal, major, planned, annual gifts, and corporate and foundation giving;
work with the Vice President to establish measurable goals to increase fundraising results that are both aspirational and achievable;
in concert with the President, Vice President, and frontline development staff, participate in the development of strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new and existing prospects;
mentor, train, and supervise fundraising staff - overseeing the hiring processes, setting of expectations, training and professional development, performance management and evaluations, and disciplinary processes;
develop strong positive relationships across the College community;
in close collaboration with the Vice President, plan, implement, and manage all administrative aspects of a multi-year comprehensive campaign;
staff the Campaign Committee, including preparation of agendas and support of committee assignments;
collaborate with Assistant Vice President for Information Strategy and Operations to monitor progress relative to goals and timelines across all areas of Development, including operations and fundraising functions;
keep projects and initiatives on time and on target;
using the written campaign plan, produce high-level campaign timelines and detailed underlying project plans that include benchmarks, milestones, deliverables, goals, and key players;
provide evaluation to Wellesley's leadership, campaign volunteers, Board of Trustees, and staff regarding results, successes, lessons learned, opportunities for growth, and forecasting;
produce regular reports and briefing materials, budgets, campaign documents, memos and correspondence, and metrics reports to key constituents;
collaborate with the Assistant Vice President for Information Strategy and Operations to leverage data analytics and predictive modeling that informs campaign strategies, identifies potential donor populations, measures the philanthropic potential of existing donor households, develops campaign gift tables, crafts ask amounts, and designs solicitation strategies; and
remain well-informed of current best practices in the advancement profession and evaluate new and emerging ideas for implementation.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Wellesley College seeks an Assistant Vice President for Development & Campaign Director with

an ability to lead, grow, and enhance fundraising efforts in collaboration and coordination with internal and external stakeholders;
experience planning and implementing long- and short-term fundraising strategies across major, planned, and annual gifts;
experience establishing measurable goals to increase fundraising results that are both aspirational and achievable;
experience in multiple facets of campaign development and execution including campaign strategy, personal solicitations, campaign leadership, coordinating efforts of senior leadership and campaign committees, analyzing and synthesizing data into coherent reports for senior leadership and other stakeholders on campaign progress and initiatives, and tracking campaign progress;
experience hiring, training, managing, mentoring, and supervising successful fundraising teams while helping individual staff excel in their work and grow professionally;
deep knowledge of and an ability to strategically apply best practices and principles in the field of fundraising - to align tasks and people with the goals and objectives of the institution;
strong project management skills, including an ability to execute multiple and varied programs and events in service to various audiences; and
an ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences across multiple platforms.
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least eight years of progressively responsible development leadership experience is preferred for this position.
