Job Summary:
The Director of Corporate Relations is a key role within the university that will develop and implement strategies that build and maintain long-term relationships with corporate entities. This role aims to enhance fundraising, partnerships, and engagement that aligns with the university's overall goals and strategic vision, in conjunction with the Development and Alumni Relations team of the University. This includes effectively managing a multifaceted portfolio of top corporations and corporate foundations, regularly meeting with corporate representatives, developing and submitting written proposals, and facilitating other engagement opportunities. The Director of Corporate Relations serves as a frontline engagement officer and fundraiser with demonstrated experience working at the university level. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and collaborates with other team members throughout the university.
Essential Duties:
- Manage a portfolio of multiple corporations and organizations, with a focus on the top 25 - that includes building new relationships and maintaining existing relationships to increase philanthropy, internships, research support, and engagement to advance University priorities and initiatives.
- Meet established annual metrics by meeting with corporate representatives (in person, by phone, and/or by virtual means), assisting in developing and communicating professionally written proposals to corporate and foundation representatives that further create opportunities for synergy and collaborative partnerships. Focus on raising support at the six- and seven-figure levels for campus priorities.
- Identify new corporate prospects, develop and implement successful cultivation and solicitation strategies for corporate constituents.
- Participate in the implementation and management of a comprehensive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing the overall corporate relationships for philanthropy within the university.
- Draft reports, develop research profiles, and prepare proposals and grant submissions for companies and organizations.
- Design and implement strategic and operational plans to build and manage corporate philanthropic relationships. Provide effective coordination of activities such as campus visits, site visits, travel to relevant sites, and presentations or proposals.
- Work closely with the Assistant Vice President to develop fundraising and engagement strategies for top corporate entities to accomplish the goals of the University.
- Identify, assess, prepare, and present solicitation proposals to existing and potential corporate supporters.
- Prepare briefings and gather essential background materials for University leadership.
- Collaborate with deans, faculty, center directors, and other administrators to advance funding priorities for various academic programs and provide development support for corporate fundraising opportunities in conjunction with development officers and other university personnel.
- Work closely with internal partners to identify key fundraising objectives and priorities and develop an effective fundraising strategy.
- Ensure that corporate donors are stewarded for their gifts and maintain strong relationships. Work with the Prospect Management and Research team to identify prospective corporate donors and perform regular portfolio maintenance.
- Maintain internal relationships to meet reporting, compliance and stewardship guidelines for corporate funders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of professional experience in a development office for corporate and foundation fundraising or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in a similar role.
- Experience needed to interact with high-level management in the corporate sector.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years or more of professional experience in frontline fundraising.
- Experience working in a corporation or business, with internal knowledge of how companies operate.
- Experience in a development/fundraising, university, or nonprofit environment.
- Experience in Raiser's Edge or other fundraising databases.
- Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising, prospect research, and experience with online grant submission.
- Experience working with corporations to solicit funding.
- Experience in researching funding opportunities.
- Experience in writing and submitting proposals.
