Job PurposeThe Assistant Director of Development (ADD) engages alumni and friends in philanthropy to the University by implementing specific strategies to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward supporters through individual visits, personal communication, and event participation. This position directly supports the fundraising initiatives for the University and liaisons with one or more Colleges/Units.

Essential Functions - Serve as the major gift fundraiser for the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Emerging and Integrative Studies, the Volpe Library, and, when applicable, the Division of Student Affairs.
- Manage a portfolio of donors whose principal philanthropic support is/will be for the assigned areas.
- Develop and maintain fruitful working relationships with deans, department chairs, faculty, and staff; secure their assistance and leverage their efforts for the advancement of the University.
- Prepare, revise (as appropriate), and implement a body of work that includes specific goals and metrics.
- Participate energetically and thoughtfully as a member of the Development Team and the Division of University Advancement.
- Maintain currency in the development profession through professional development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. At least three years of related professional experience with a minimum of one year of general fundraising or sales experience. Strong relationship building skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A record of success in major gift/sales solicitation/closure. Evidence of conducting follow up in a timely manner. Adaptability to changing circumstances. Ability to travel extensively.
Preferred QualificationsAn advanced degree from an accredited higher education institution. Higher education experience.
Work Hours: Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Additional hours if/when needed.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 12.
