Position Title: Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship
Reports to: Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Relations
Supervises: none
Primary function: The Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship designs and implements a robust donor stewardship program, including the crafting of gift acknowledgements; designing and writing customized donor stewardship pieces; designing and writing case statements and gift proposals; planning high impact donor stewardship events; and managing donor-funded scholarship tracking and reporting.
Required Qualifications: 1-3 years in higher education development, non-profit or donor/customer relations; strong communication and writing skills.
Education: Bachelor's Degree, preferably in English, Communications, or related field
Experience:Essential duties:- Create and implement donor recognition and stewardship processes for major donor giving societies (Heritage and Guardian, e.g.)
- Track and systematize all donor funded scholarships, ensuring that scholarship agreements comply with College guidelines and that all relevant offices are informed of new scholarships and the status of existing ones.
- Organize and retain reports from financial aid and business office, including scholarship endowed fund values; spending account balances; and annual scholarship award details.
- Create and send comprehensive annual scholarship reports to founding donors.
- Ensure that gift acknowledgement letters are updated regularly, processed accurately and timely, and signed by the appropriate signatory.
- Oversee the crafting and design of campaign case statements and specific case statements for campaign components.
- Work with gift officers and administration to prepare donor-specific case statements and proposals as needed.
- Work with gift officers and administration to provide custom stewardship pieces upon request, demonstrating the compelling impact that donors have on the College through their gifts.
- Plan and implement stewardship events as developed by the department, such as Heritage society thank-you event; scholarship reception, etc.
- Assist relationship managers with crafting gift and pledge agreements for large or complex gifts.
- Create an annual donor impact report and donor honor roll.
