Shepherds of Good Hope Foundation (SGHF) advances the mission and work of Shepherds of Good Hope (SGH) through philanthropic leadership, donor engagement, and revenue generation. SGH supports individuals experiencing homelessness, many of whom face complex trauma, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders. Through strong donor stewardship and innovative fundraising strategies, SGHF plays a critical role in ensuring the long-term sustainability of programs and services that respond to homelessness in the community. Our Vision – Homes, Community, Hope – for all – drives everything we do. This is an exciting and strategic opportunity for a seasoned community and fundraising leader to become the next CEO of the SGHF.
Chief Executive Officer
At the heart of this role are relationships. Located in Ottawa and reporting to the SGHF Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides strategic leadership and overall direction for the Foundation and its passionate team of fundraisers, while building trust-based partnerships across our community. The CEO is accountable for all fundraising, donor stewardship, and Foundation operations, and is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive philanthropic strategies that advance the mission, strengthen community awareness, and drive sustainable revenue growth. As the Foundation’s senior ambassador and advocate, you will continue to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with major donors, businesses, partners, and key stakeholders, and represent both SGHF and SGH with credibility and influence. The CEO works in close collaboration with the Boards, senior leadership of SGH, and community partners to align philanthropic priorities with organizational needs and impact. The CEO leads, inspires, mentors and supports a high-performing Foundation team to achieve ambitious fundraising goals while ensuring alignment with organizational values, best practices in governance and philanthropy, and operational excellence.
This role provides a unique opportunity to shape philanthropy at a critical social service care organization, and will appeal to a strategic, values-driven executive with demonstrated success in senior fundraising and community leadership roles, strong governance experience, and a deep commitment to social impact. The ideal candidate will be personable, confident, creative, and nimble, with the ability to effectively straddle both strategy and operations to drive fundraising success. You will be adept at working in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable being accountable for ambitious fundraising goals. A self-motivated and visionary strategic leader and superior communicator who exemplifies the core values of respect, compassion, and dignity, you are an authentic and humble leader who models trust and creates an empowered and team-based culture. A high degree of emotional intelligence would be desirable. Familiarity with philanthropy, our local community, social services and governance are essential for this opportunity. The ability to speak both official languages would be a definite asset.
