Position Summary:
The Associate Vice President for Alumni Engagement (AVP) is responsible for leading theplanning and growth for alumni engagement and university annual giving. As the Executive Director of the Alumni Association, this role willwork to support the Association’s vision of creating mutually beneficial relationships between the university and its alumni. This positionserves on the leadership team of the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving
- Leads alumni engagement and annualgiving staff in the annual planning and strategic growth of alumni engagement and annual giving programming.
- Creates acomprehensive annual plan for alumni relations prior to the beginning of each fiscal year that details the strategy for the Alumni Board,campus events, regional events and social media outreach as well as goals related to annual giving participation from events.
- Serves as Executive Director of the Campbell University Alumni Association and Board of Directors. The board supports the work of theAlumni Engagement office as active and engaged board members. The board is expected to have 100% giving participation annually which the AVPis responsible for soliciting. Meeting three times per year, the board is integral in the success of alumni programs and specialevents.
- Oversees the university’s class reunion program that integrates in-person and virtual events along with annual givingactivities.
- Partner with the Director of Annual Giving to develop a parent giving program and serve as it’s point of contact.
- Partner with the Director of Alumni Engagement to develop a Campbell Alumni Chapter program.
- Represents the Department atregional and on campus events.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Uphold and abide by CampbellUniversity policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to; HIPAA,FERPA and other state and federal mandates.

Staff Management:
- Supervise, train and manage efforts of thealumni relations and annual giving team, a position designed to support the department’s overall engagement efforts.
- Evaluateworkload, set performance objectives, monitor performance and provide feedback on performance results, conduct regular staff meetings andshare information to keep Advancement staff abreast of alumni and annual giving activities overall.
- Assure collaboration of AlumniEngagement team within Advancement Department on event management, newsletters, correspondence, and other communications with volunteers,alumni, prospective donors, existing donors, parents and friends of Campbell University.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of a four-year degree; a Master’s Degree in a relevant field ispreferred.
- Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector desired.
- At least 8-10 years of significant relationshipmanagement and fundraising experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability tocommunicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and timemanagement skills.
- Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in relating to university administrators, academic leaders, university advancementstaff, alumni, and other external audiences.
- Demonstrated success in one-on-one communications and relationship-building withconstituents.
- Ability to creatively manage alumni activities and identify engagement opportunities in an entrepreneurial,innovative, and forward-thinking manner.
- Proven ability to lead, manage and organize multiple projects with energy, clarity,optimism, diplomacy, and integrity.
- Ability to travel regionally and work some evening and weekend hours.
- Demonstratetact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials andthe public.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Exerciseindependent judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations.
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet setdeadlines.
