Position Summary:The Advancement Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing communications that support Advancement fundraising, stewardship, alumni relations, and donor engagement goals. This role manages Advancement-focused communications across email, social media, and print channels and serves as the primary liaison between the Advancement Office and the College's Marketing and Communications department.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement, the Advancement Communications Manager creates and coordinates donor and alumni-facing content, manages Advancement social media and email communications, supports printed and digital fundraising materials, helps respond to constituent inquiries, and leads Advancement-related speaker series programming. The role also supports communications and execution needs for major Advancement and institutional events. The position requires strong writing ability, project management skills, attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple communications initiatives tied to fundraising and engagement priorities.
Advancement Communications and Content Development:- Develop and execute Advancement communications that support fundraising, stewardship, and engagement priorities.
- Draft and manage Advancement email communications, including appeals, stewardship messages, invitations, and campaign messaging.
- Maintain a communications calendar aligned with Advancement campaigns and initiatives.
- Ensure messaging reflects donor impact and institutional priorities.
- Write, edit, and refine donor- and alumni-facing content across channels.
Social Media and Digital Channel Management:- Manage Advancement social media channels and content planning.
- Create and publish posts highlighting donor impact, student success, alumni stories, events, and campaigns.
- Monitor engagement and respond or route inquiries as appropriate.
- Coordinate Advancement social content with institutional brand standards and guidelines.
- Track basic engagement metrics and recommend content improvements.
Print and Donor-Facing Materials:- Lead development and coordination of Advancement print and digital materials.
- Produce and update Impact Reports, annual appeal materials, and stewardship pieces.
- Draft and edit donor acknowledgment templates and stewardship communications.
- Develop event invitations, campaign materials, and donor communications pieces.
- Coordinate design and production with Marketing or external vendors as needed.
Donor and Alumni Inquiry Support:- Help respond to general inquiries from alumni, donors, and community friends.
- Route gift, stewardship, and relationship matters to appropriate Advancement staff.
- Ensure timely, professional, and service-oriented responses to constituents.
Marketing and Communications Liaison:- Serve as Advancement's primary point of contact with the Marketing department.
- Coordinate Advancement project requests, timelines, and approvals.
- Ensure Advancement messaging aligns with institutional communication standards.
- Help prioritize and track Advancement communications projects across departments.
Speaker Series Leadership:- Lead planning and execution of Albright's speaker series and related engagement programming.
- Coordinate speakers, logistics, promotion, and follow-up communications.
- Collaborate with Advancement leadership to align speaker programming with engagement and donor strategy.
Event Communications and Support:- Support communications and promotional efforts for major Advancement and institutional events.
- Assist with messaging and materials for Gala, Homecoming and Family Weekend, Commencement, Giving Day, and donor events.
- Prepare invitations, scripts, signage, and follow-up communications.
- Participate in and support execution of key Advancement events as needed.
Collaboration and Team Support:- Work closely with Advancement staff to support fundraising and stewardship initiatives.
- Participate in Advancement planning and campaign communications discussions.
- Support donor engagement strategies through coordinated messaging and storytelling.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
- Experience in communications, marketing, advancement, or nonprofits preferred.
- Experience managing social media and email communications platforms.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Collaborative work style with strong cross-department communication skills.
- Detail oriented with high standards for accuracy in donor-facing communications.
