To support people who have an intellectual disability to achieve their personal goals, as they relate to work and alternative options. Facilitate relationships, skills and roles which promote their effective participation in the typical and valued life of the community.
POSITION (Classification): Fundraising Events Assistant (Summer student)
575 Penrose Street, Newmarket, Ontario
STATUS: Part Time (Seasonal/Contract); NEW ROLE
REPORTING TO: Director, Fund Development and Marketing
HOURS: 30 hours per week (Will includes days, afternoons and weekend shifts; flexibility REQUIRED)
HOURLY RATE RANGE: $20.00
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising events (including gala and community-based events)
- Assist with event logistics including registration, setup, execution, and wrap-up
- Lead event setup and teardown (tables, chairs, tents, signage, materials)
- Load, transport, and organize event supplies and equipment
- Provide direction and support to volunteers during events
- Support silent auctions, prize collection, and sponsorship fulfilment
- Deliver a high level of customer service and respond to public inquiries professionally
- Represent Community Living Central York in a professional, engaging, and approachable manner
- Conduct research to identify local businesses and community partners
- Build and maintain a database of businesses for sponsorships, donations, and partnerships
- Support outreach efforts through emails and phone calls
- Track solicitations and deliverables using internal systems
- Assist with administrative tasks and project coordination related to events and fundraising
- Research external events and identify opportunities for improvement and growth
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting or coordinating events, fundraising, or community outreach
- Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems
- Must be attending post-secondary education in a related field
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Detail-oriented and able to work in fast-paced environments
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Experience working with volunteers is an asset
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Valid G driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening to be dated with in 6 months of hire date
