Position Summary:The Development Officer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors to support the university's fundraising priorities. This position will play a key role in advancing the institution's Mission by building strong relationships with alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and other key stakeholders. The Development Officer will actively participate in fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, and prospect management.
Primary Responsibilities:- Secure external funds for the University of Dubuque by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and future investors
- Develop and implement personalized donor strategies to increase engagement and philanthropic support
- Conduct donor visits, meetings, and events to build meaningful relationships and secure gifts
- Collaborate with university leadership, faculty, and staff to align donor interests with institutional priorities
- Support annual giving, capital campaigns, and planned giving efforts
- Represent the University in external meetings and functions with investors and prospects
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission
Skills and Abilities:- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Proven ability to cultivate and solicit donors successfully
- Understanding of the principles of nurturing, fundraising, and prospect management
- Ability to use dissertation and confidentiality in department and University matters
- Ability to relate to a culturally diverse university community
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree required; Masters' degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience in fundraising, development, alumni relations, or a related field
- Willingness to travel and work evenings or weekends as needed
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to handle highly confidential information and conversations
