DescriptionThe Assistant/Associate Director for Alumni Career Services (in-person position) will provide comprehensive career development services for alumni of all majors and class years. This position will design and deliver web-based seminars on a full range of career management topics including but not limited to: career re-entry and transition services, job search assistance, and graduate and professional school planning. This person will also provide individual career coaching consultations, career assessments, and group workshops. The Assistant/Associate Director for Alumni Career Services will handle all benchmarking, evaluation and outcomes assessment for these services. This position will also support seniors who have never met with their assigned Gateway Counselor. In addition, the Assistant/Associate Director for Alumni Career Services will communicate with the Counseling and ER teams to share market insights relevant to student interests and career goals.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the current needs for alumni career services
- Identify "best practices" for supporting alumni in career transition through benchmarking with peer institutions
- Design and develop appropriate web-based seminars on a variety of career related topics and create all supporting materials
- Provide comprehensive individual career coaching for alumni of all majors and class years
- Provide comprehensive individual career coaching for seniors of all majors who have never met with their assigned Gateway Counselor
- Manage social media platforms such as: LinkedIn groups for alumni career services
- Research and evaluate potential tools to support distance counseling
- Manage and update all resources on the Alumni Career Services webpage
- Track all activity and produce a comprehensive annual report on alumni career services and programming including outcomes assessment
- Handle all marketing and outreach for programs and services
- Assist with special programs and projects that support services for alumni
- Lead efforts to partner with Alumni Engagement on strategies to increase alumni engagement with GatewayLink for overall alumni support services and student mentoring.
- Contribute to the overall goals of the department, as determined by the AVP, Gateway Career Center
QualificationsMaster's Degree in Counseling or related field. A minimum of 5 years of related experience required for Associate level. Excellent oral and written communication skills, superior presentation skills, in addition to strong organizational skills are required. The successful candidate must work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer technology to support the development and delivery of career services programs, and in-depth knowledge of career counseling techniques and theory is required. Prior experience with alumni populations and the ability to work with all class years including the diverse needs of a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds is also required.
