POSITION SUMMARYThe Alumni Center Student Receptionist & Facilities Monitor is responsible for front desk coverage, general administrative support for the Department, facility event assistance and other work as assigned. They will attend to visitors and deal with inquiries on the phone and face to face. They also supply information regarding the organization to the general public, students, clients and customers.
Primary Responsibilities - Answer phone calls in a timely manner and provide accurate information to callers. Callers must be addressed with a friendly, professional, customer-first attitude at all times.
- Greet and direct visitors and event attendees. Record names of every visitor. Log visitor plates into UConn parking data base.
- Interact with guests in a professional manner and provide general information about Alumni Relations and the University.
- Complete UConn Foundation Database (FELIX)
- Assist callers with event registrations.
- Look up or confirm information in FELIX regarding events and constituents.
- Complete assigned projects by the assigned deadline.
- Responsible for monitoring events to ensure all rules and regulations are adhered to. Monitor overall security of the Alumni Center.
- Perform event set-up needs prior to and following events taking place at the Alumni Center.
- Occasionally perform simple custodial tasks throughout the building as needed, including maintaining a neat and tidy front desk/lobby area.
- Occasionally perform simple maintenance tasks throughout the building, as needed, including unclogging toilets, cleaning up spills and other tasks that need to be dealt with in a timely fashion.
- Ability to answer various questions related to hosting events and/or renting the Alumni Center.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined during orientation.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Leadership Provide visible leadership across the entire organization by engaging in organization-wide activities such as department meetings, all-staff meetings, and staff events.

- Great organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work during regular business hours (Monday - Friday - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm) multi-day and/or multi-hour availability is preferred. Must also be available to hours to support events hosted at the Alumni Center on Sundays (when they occur)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Neat, professional appearance and demeanor that promotes a positive customer experience.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude
- Ability to operate a multi-line phone system and computer literacy with knowledge of MS Office.
- General knowledge of The UConn Foundation, UConn Alumni, the University, and Storrs campus
- Proactive and positive attitude for working with callers, visitors and Alumni Relations staff.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work approximately 5-10 hours per week.
- Available to work at least 2 consecutive academic semesters, beginning in the Spring of 2025
- Available to work Summer 2026
- Ability to move and lift up to 50 lbs.

Education & Experience - Enrollment at the University of Connecticut
- A student in good standing related to grade point average and student code of conduct
