Job DescriptionASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, MAJOR GIFTS, SCHOOL OF LAWThe Associate Director, Major Gifts, School of Law is a professional fund-raising position. This position will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a targeted portfolio of major gift prospects in concert with the School's strategic priorities and objectives. They will work closely with School leadership such as Deans, Associate Deans and Directors, and staff them on visits in assigned geographic territories. This role will also work closely with other departments within the Office of Development including Planned Giving, Stewardship, Corporate & Foundation Relations, and Development Services as well as Alumni
Affairs and other External Affairs departments throughout the University. The role will assume programmatic responsibilities for certain School specific areas
as assigned.
ResponsibilitiesThis position will create, manage and advance effective relationships with assigned prospects toward the goal of appropriate solicitation.
Maintain a monthly level of actual or facilitated appointments or significant prospect moves. The Officer will proactively identify and assess
new University prospects as potential donors and/or volunteer leaders.
Will be the lead Development contact for project specific areas related to campaign priorities.
The Officer will collaborate with other departments in the Development Office to maximize prospect advancement.
QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 1. Bachelor's degree.
2. 3 years direct fund-raising or related experience in the solicitation and closing of major and multi-year annual gifts in a research university environment preferred. Transferable, related experience such as marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales may be considered.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY: 1. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
2. Excellent organization skills, including the ability to manage multiple demands and/or
projects simultaneously.
3. Ability to travel substantially, as well as attend events on evenings and weekends.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Commitment to the values of an institution of higher education, required
2. Knowledge of various software systems, such as Word and Access preferred
