The Position: Director, Foundation, Corporate, & Community Partnerships
Job Summary:The Director for Foundation, Corporate, & Community Partnerships is responsible for leading and managing Muhlenberg's relationships with external partners to advance the College's strategic priorities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing proposals for submission to prospective external partners with an emphasis on Government and Foundation funders. Additional key responsibilities include developing and strengthening community relationships through regular engagement with corporate, community, and government relations as well as external-facing campus colleagues.
Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:
Grant Making and Stewardship
Identify, develop, and submit major strategic program grants to regional, national and international funders at the $50,000 and above level to obtain long-term and multi-year funding for College's priorities, such as scholarship funds, capital projects, program support, faculty research and Muhlenberg's endowment fund.
Serve as a collaborative partner to the College President, Provost, CFO, faculty and staff in support of external funding proposal development.
Manage the creation, editing, submission and tracking of grants throughout the funding process.
Develop and maintain a proposal submission and monitoring system for the grant-seeking process. Work with the Provost on a regular basis to adjust and strengthen the submission process.
Corporate, Community and Government Relations
Manage a portfolio focused on government officials and foundations to be regularly engaged throughout the fiscal year.
Build and expand prospective and existing relationships with external constituencies/donors, including government agencies, foundations and corporations.
Build and strengthen relationships with local and state government officials to gain their support for College initiatives.
Acknowledge and steward all government, foundation, corporation and organization grants and gifts to the College.
Act as staff liaison and provide administrative and event support to the College Board of Associates (BoA). The BoA is composed of recognized business, professional, volunteer and civic leaders in the community. The purpose of the BoA is to connect community leadership with Muhlenberg College administration, faculty and students to foster community understanding and support for the College.
Advancement Activity & Operations
Collaborate with Advancement-focused colleagues, departments and College leadership to promote best practices aligned with the external relations goals.
Serve as a member of program, departmental and College-wide committees.
Share responsibility for meeting the annual fundraising goals and objectives, including participating in annual fund solicitations and other related duties.
Attend and contribute to major College functions, including but not limited to Alumni Weekend, #MULEMENTUM, Mule Madness, THAW and any appropriate campaign events.
Coordinate closely with the Career Center and Graduate and Continuing Education to develop comprehensive, College-wide partnerships with external funders.
Actively pursue professional development opportunities that will strengthen and expand an external network of colleagues and funding organizations.
Manage an operating budget for personal visits, travel and events.
Co-supervise one shared administrative staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or equivalent, related experience in lieu of master's degree preferred.
Minimum five years relevant experience with at least three years of successful proposal development or comparable experience required.
Effective organizational, leadership, supervisory and time management skills.

Persuasive and superior oral and written communication skills and computer competencies (including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications).
Ability to understand and articulate the role of a small, private liberal arts college.
