Development Officer, Sun Devil AthleticsThe Development Officer, Sun Devil Athletics is responsible forimplementing and coordinating comprehensive fundraising programs aimed at identifying, cultivating, and securing gifts in conjunction withthe objectives and strategies of ASU Foundation (ASUF) on behalf of Sun Devil Athletics. In partnership with unit development directors, ASUEnterprise Partners, and Sun Devil Athletics staff, , this position will identify opportunities and develop engagement strategies forsecuring and maintaining donors across the spectrum of our constituency. This role will focus on building a donor pipeline with a primarytarget of $1,000-$25,000 gifts to support individual and unit portfolio growth and sustainability. The Development Officer, Sun DevilAthletics will provide primary support to the unit for event attendance and donor engagement opportunities, operating as a first-linerepresentative of the unit.
What you'll do:
- Engages actively with foundation donors, Sun Devil Athleticsticketholders, event attendees and the ASU community to secure gifts and grants that align with the Foundation's goals, campaign, andperformance metrics.
- Contributes to the strategic planning and execution of fundraising and engagementactivities.
- Participates in developing and implementing best practices for donor engagement, solicitation, andstewardship.
- Facilitates connections between donors, prospects, and ASU through various events, communications, andopportunities.
- Collaborates with ASU departments to ensure cohesive solicitation efforts and marketingstrategies.
- Utilizes Salesforce to manage donor information and coordinates with research teams to advance prospects into themajor gift pipeline.
- Assists in managing and staffing ASUF, ASU, and Sun Devil Athletics events, enhancing donorengagement.
- Supports specific development program tasks, including monitoring foundation fundraising and campaignprogress.
- Coordinates engagement strategies across the enterprise, focusing on maximizing faculty, staff, student and formerstudent-athlete involvement.
- Manages budgets for designated projects and events, adhering to allocatedfunds.
- Utilizes the University's databases and resources to effectively manage relationships with the ASUcommunity.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or currently enrolled inbachelor's degree program
- One (1) to three (3) years of successful development experience
- Demonstrated abilityin securing major grants and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other private fundingsources
- Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing long- and short-range development initiatives in conjunction withstrategic planning processes
- Demonstrated organizational skills and experience in managing events and other complexactivities in support of development objectives
Relevant qualifications
- Exceptional interpersonalskills and the ability to interact effectively with academic leadership, faculty, prospects, donors, and/or volunteers in a wide range ofroles
- Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and timely reports andother documents to support development objectives
- Database management skills
- Ability to supervise and trainemployees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
- Ability to exercise good judgment, todemonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects,volunteers, and others
- Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment
- Communityrelations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community
- Program planning andleadership skills
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related toFoundation and University business and confidential prospect information
- Highly developed verbal and written communicationskills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite andcomfortable working in donor/prospect computer database systems
- Ability to represent the institution well and possess anadvocate's belief in the vision of ASU as the New American University
- If this position is assigned to the AthleticsDepartment, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required
Preferred skills and abilities
- Knowledge of fundraising techniques including proposal development, prospectidentification, fund solicitation, database management, donor tracking, and social networking and marketing tools in highereducation
Preferred education and experience
- Advanced degree
- One (1) to three (3)years of successful fundraising experience or transferrable experiences working with donors and prospects in higher education or athleticsfor applicable roles
- Experience working in Salesforce and Workday
