Job Description Summary:Founded in 1975, Literacy for Life is an independent 501(c)3 organization with two locations on the Peninsula: Williamsburg and Newport News. Located in William and Mary's School of Education, Literacy for Life's mission is to empower adults by building foundational skills for success in life and work. Literacy for Life provides professional instruction and volunteer tutoring in reading, writing, math, English language, citizenship, computer skills, high school completion (GED and NEDP), health literacy, workplace readiness, and preparation for post-secondary programs. Literacy for Life serves adult learners in Williamsburg, James City County, York County, Newport News and Hampton.

Please do not apply through Workday William & Mary Career site.Organizational Purpose: Support Literacy for Life in securing funds to expand adult literacy programs and help learners reach their goals through strategic fundraising and donor management.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop an annual diversified fundraising plan.
- Support relationship building with existing donors and maintain accurate records.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual donors and prospects to support pipeline development and implement engagement strategies.
- Secure sponsorships and auction items for the primary fundraising event, Reading Between the Wines.
- Track fundraising outcomes, deliver regular reports to the Executive Director, and recommend
improvements.
- Develop donor communications in collaboration with the Executive Director and other staff.
- Support fundraising or stewardship events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
College degree required. Advancement/development experience required. Proficiency in computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite and various types of data management software. Must be a team player with excellent people skills for a diverse population. Must be well organized and extremely attentive to detail. Able to work occasional nights and weekends.
Weekly Hours: 20 hours per week, compensation $32,500-$40,000 (commensurate with experience)
