Position Overview
The Development Officer, Fundraising (Canada Summer Jobs) position offers an exciting opportunity for a youth participant to gain hands-on experience in fundraising, marketing, and corporate relations within the nonprofit sector.
Working under the supervision of the Director of Fundraising & Philanthropy, the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding TCS’s pipeline of prospective corporate funders, partners, and donors. This includes researching, contacting, and building relationships with potential sponsors to support TCS programs such as the Village Pantry Food Bank, Timeless Treasures Seniors Program, and DreamBuilders Scholarship.
This role is ideal for a young professional who is motivated, outgoing, and passionate about making a difference through philanthropy and community development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily outreach and cold calls to businesses, corporations, and community partners to introduce TCS’s mission and programs.
- Research and identify corporate giving prospects, sponsorship opportunities, and community investment leads.
- Build and maintain a prospect database and contact log using CRM tools and tracking templates.
- Prepare scripts, email templates, and briefing notes for outreach campaigns.
- Support the Director of Fundraising & Philanthropy in scheduling introductory meetings and developing presentation materials.
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Participate in team meetings, reporting sessions, and mentorship activities as part of the internship experience.
- Help evaluate outreach results and recommend strategies to strengthen engagement.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility (see below)
- Minimum pursuing post-secondary education (Marketing, Business Administration, or related field)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially over the phone and email.
- Comfortable initiating contact with new people and representing an organization professionally.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and research skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and able to learn CRM or donor management tools.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and willing to learn about fundraising and community engagement.
- Interest in nonprofit management, marketing, or business development is an asset.
Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Employment Details
- Start Date: June 2026
- End Date: August 2026
- Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
- Compensation: $18.00 per hour
- Work Model: Hybrid (in-person at Tropicana Centre, 1385 Huntingwood Drive, Scarborough + remote work)
