Title: Development Officer – Fundraising

Hours: 35 hours per week; primarily weekdays for 14 Weeks
Location: 962 Bloor St West and in the community
Supervisor: Manager of Fund Development and Communications
Compensation: $17.60/hour + 4% vacation pay (4% of gross income)

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Development Officer (Fundraising & Communications) to join our Fundraising and Communications team through the Canada Summer Jobs program. This role is ideal for someone passionate about social impact, donor engagement, and storytelling to support fundraising initiatives and community awareness.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and donor engagement initiatives
- Assist with donor database management, including data entry, donor tracking, and reporting
- Draft and edit donor communications such as newsletters, email campaigns, thank-you letters, and impact reports
- Create compelling content for fundraising appeals across digital platforms (social media, website, email marketing tools such as Mailchimp)
- Assist in coordinating fundraising events and community engagement activities
- Conduct prospect research to identify potential donors, sponsors, and partners
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather stories, data, and impact metrics for fundraising materials
- Support grant writing and reporting processes as needed
- Design digital and print materials such as brochures, infographics, and campaign assets

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Interest or academic background in Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft compelling narratives
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems (an asset)
- Experience with digital tools such as Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Research and analytical skills for donor and funding prospecting
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for this position, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the position
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position works in the office and community. Sistering is a 24/7 operation, fast paced, intense environment.
