SummaryThe Director of External Relations is responsible for creating a comprehensive strategic, integrated, audience-focused communications and marketing approach in the area of business partnership and expansion opportunities for the Center for Sport. Responsibilities will include the overall development and coordination of the CenterâÂEURÂTMs engagement and fundraising efforts including, the coordination of donor and major gift opportunities.
The Director will work collaboratively to create and execute strategic marketing plans, develop marketing content and coordinate the visual design and brand standards to deliver effective marketing campaigns (digital and print) and collateral to optimize visibility within Center for Sport programs.
The Director works with the Vice President for Advancement, Constituency Programs and Assistant Director of Public Relations, to ensure collaboration and integration within the Offices of Advancement and Communication & Marketing at Tulane. This position will need to be highly responsive, navigating both long-term projects and short-term needs throughout the year in order to successfully contribute to the sustainability of these programs in an expanding market.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with various audiences and potential donors at all levels.
- Ability to make decisions independently and follow-up.
- Ability to contribute to the yearly strategic planning of the department.
- Demonstrated experience with the use of social media and website design to solicit gifts and communicate with constituent groups.
Required Education and/or Experience:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in program development, implementation, or management required, including 1 year of direct fund-raising or transferrable experience.
- Experience in event planning and management, volunteer management, sales, public relations, marketing or admissions experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working in higher education administration.
